Be careful that you know what room you are getting when booking this hotel - there is an apartment block down the road where the hotel also has rooms, which the hotel did not make clear on the hotel booking site we used. We booked this hotel for its character. The hotel itself

Dear Claire, Thank you very much for taking your time to review us on TripAdvisor and for staying with us. Hotel Aranjuez have two buildings to offer two different experience to our guests. In each building, our guest will have a different type of accommodation and service, but both as good as described in other reviews (the secondary building has a guard and staff members during the day). In our different extranets and on the website, each room have a description with photos so our guests can choose what's better for them. If someone wants to stay in our main building but booked on the other experience we offer, we can gladly change their reservation. Once again, thank you very much and we hope you'll have a wonderful 2019.

We really wanted to stay somewhere a bit different while we were in San Jose -- someplace that had unique character and good food. We found it! Our room was comfortable and quiet. And the garden in the center of the hotel is sweet and rustic. I woke up in the morning and drank

Thank you very much for your lovely review. We much appreciate that you have enjoyed the "unique character" of Hotel Aranjuez. During the last 26 years we keep working in order to preserve the five wooden houses that host Hotel Aranjuez. Through these patrimony houses dating from the 1940’s, we are inviting our guests to live a memorable and autochthonous experience. Our buffet breakfast is part of this unique experience that we are looking to provide to our guests. All we serve is made in artisan way. Once again thank you for your review and we hope you repeat your visit to Hotel Aranjuez very soon. Hasta entonces!

Here with a friend for two nights in San Jose before we have an adventure around Costa Rica. Arrived a 12 hour flight and was tired and peckish. Chap on reception couldn’t be more helpful. We had Room 30 which was near reception. Only downside is everyone passed our room from

We stayed here for our last night in Costa Rica and really liked the place. It is quirky and rambling with lots of indigenous artwork on the walls. It’s in a great location and the staff are super helpful, particularly Francisco. We had a great breakfast too and would definitely

We’ve stayed at Hotel Aranjuez many times since my wife’s aunt lives nearby. Normally we’re here for the first 2 and our last 2 nights before returning back home to the USA. In between we spend 7 nights near the ocean. The hotel offers clean reasonable prices, an excellent

We took Uber instead of taxis. Much cheaper. Would not recommend walking to downtown. It's a little far in the heat, many broken sidewalks and steep drops from sidewalks if you are not paying attention and lots of twists and turns, one way roads. Easy to get lost and end up hiking up hills like what happened to us.
