This hotel had superb service, great rooms and a sublime breakfast. Good location for all central San Jose sites. The staff were helpful and friendly, the tea and water available in reception was handy. Squeeze your own fresh orange juice at breakfast and one of the best breakfasts seen since the Valley Wing in Singapore.

I arrived at SJO airport and felt very ill upon arrival only to find there was nobody holding a placard with my name on it. I phoned the hotel and they resolved the issue immediately which I truly appreciated. The airport pickup is $35 btw. As soon as I arrived at the hotel I received a warm and friendly check...

This hotel is done so well . The building had been a department store in its early days. The same family still owns it and used many of the old items from the store to add charm and interest. very Hip feel

There's a lot to like about this hotel: * funky, artsy lobby * friendly staff * excellent buffet breakfast * convenient location for several museums Our first room was clean and well furnished, like a boutique hotel in the U.S. Unfortunately, it faced the pedestrian mall where a guy was yelling to lure people into his bar or restaurant, so...

We sincerely apologize for the noise made by the construction staff. We did take the issue up with their supervisors. Fortunately, all construction projects are finished, and our concept suites, along with the new restaurant - Azotea Calle 7 - are due to open within days.

When I arrived there, I wasn't too pleased with the room because it had a horrible smell. I told the front desk and was reassured that I'll be moved first thing in the morning. Not only did I get moved, I was also given an upgrade ! Which was amazing !! Staff were pleasant and helpful. This hotel is in...

Thank you very much for your enthusiastic endorsement. As you know, we live in an imperfect world, but trying to make it better is what we try. Other clients would have given us a low score even if the problem is solved, so thank you for your patience and understanding.

My fiancé and I enjoyed our time at Hotel Presidente. Its a cute boutique hotel within walking distance to many attractions, shopping and restaurants. Our room included daily breakfast which was nice and the staff was always attentive and friendly.

I stayed one night here at the start of a trip with my 73 year old mother. This was my mom's "bucket list" trip to Costa Rica, and this hotel offered the perfect beginning! From the minute our driver pulled into the lot, there was friendly hotel staff outside waiting for us and guiding us to the reception desk. The...

Thank you for your comments. San Jose is definitely a working city, and many inhabitants are either dressed up for work or casually, but definitely not in shorts. Nevertheless, you do see a lot of tourists walking in the sites, plazas and buildings. Wearing shorts in a nice way to tell the city that you are a welcomed guest!

The is a small and very good hotel. The setting is a restored factory and it is nicely decorated with old sewing machines. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Saul took us to our room and we learned he did an internship in Myrtle Beach to learn English. It paid off as he was very helpful and pleasant. The...

Thank you for noticing the old sawing machines. We are in the process of "telling our story". The hotel was founded in 1963 by Samuel Gudes and Stanislao Scriba, two European immigrants that started their business partnership in the fashion and apparel industries. Originally they owned two of the premier fashion stores in the street level of the hotel building,...

I have been traveling to Costa Rica for 15 years, and always stay at Hotel Presidente when in San Jose. Desk staff is always very helpful, rooms are clean, and location is very convenient (on the pedestrian mall, near museums and dining options). Jorge the concierge has been there since I have been staying there and is a great employee.

Checked in to the hotel for the second time in three weeks. They did not ask for a credit card at check in. We went to the restaurant with our children aged 6&9 for a snack before bedtime and signed the bill as usual with our name and room number. An hour or so later when we were all in...
