Nice and clean. Breakfast is good and service is courteous and efficient.
Would be perfect - only two things are off: no towel hangers in the bathroom and the shower-water temperature is somewhat hit or miss.

This hotel is nice and had lots of potential. I had mostly a good experience however the issues are pretty glaring.

For one, my room was cleaned but the dishes, trash bin and floor were left the way they were found. That’s pretty disconcerting in the age of Covid.

The second and most upsetting part of the trip was when my daughter and I went down to breakfast on day two. There was a waiter who was mid table clearing and had dishes in his hands who walked up to us while we were in the buffet line.

Prior to going in the hotel restaurant, there is a retractable rope and a podium where the hostess greets you. The hostess asks your room number and proceeds to check you off before opening the retractable rope so you can enter. I mention all of this because everyone in the restaurant has been checked.

I stood in the buffet line with my daughter when the aforementioned waiter comes up to us and asked me my room number mid table clearing. Again, he has dishes on his arm so he’s clearly been tasked with something other than checking people at the host podium.

I tell him my room number and watch him go out of his way up to the podium, with the dishes on his arm to look for my name and number. This was extremely upsetting to me because I’m pretty sure no one else has been asked twice. To confirm this I ask random people in the restaurant and they all assure me they were only asked once at the podium. One even assured me “it was suspicious as hell” that he chose me, the one black person in the restaurant to ask twice.

This was incredibly embarrassing and demeaning to me.

Another issue was the doors are not heavy enough to swing closed on their own. You have to be sure the door is closed behind you as you’re leaving your room. I witnessed several doors not quite closed which is what prompted me to go back and check my own and surely, it was not closed all the way.

The food was good and affordable.

My husband and I stayed at this property on two separate occasions during our trip to Costa Rica, mostly because of its proximity to the San Jose Airport (About 20 min). The property is very nice, brand new, and located in a new complex that has some great food options that are walking distance to the hotel. We rented a car for our trip, and there was plenty of self-parking around the hotel for free which was a nice bonus. We ate breakfast at the hotel, which had nice outdoor dining area, and a spacious restaurant -- there is also a large bar in the lobby area too. Our room itself was absolutely spotless. The hotel was very serious about Covid standards and we felt that everything was very properly cleaned throughout. We didn't use the infinity pool while we were there, but it looked incredible, with plenty of seats in a relaxing setting.

The only negatives I could think of were there was a slight sewage smell coming from the toilet. It wasn't overwhelming, but it seemed to be in both rooms that we stayed in during each of our stays. Regardless, I wouldn't hesitate to come back next time we're in Costa Rica.

First the good, then the bad. The roof top pool is beautiful, relaxing with a nice view. The hotel staff are pleasant and speak English well which is helpful as I am from the states. The rooms are clean.

I've stayed at this location 4 times in the last 2 years, my most recent stay was 7/21/2022 (see attached invoice). My last two stays suffered the same problem. Air conditioning. Or the lack thereof! The thermostat in the room is so complicated even the staff couldn't get it to stay cool in my room. This last stay I woke up around 2 am and the temperature was 27 degrees Celsius! I was in a pool of my own sweat. The pillow was soaked through, the sheets as well. The thermostat had switched off during the night. I got it back on, it started to cool down and I went back to sleep in the second bed in the room. Sure enough, 3 hours later I woke up sweating again. The thermostat had powered off.

I do not stay at this hotel for the pool or to hang out with the staff. I stay here to get a good night sleep before I go to the nearby airport early in the morning. This is the second time I've stayed at this location and had the same issue with the thermostat. When I checked out, I told the desk clerk my dissatisfaction with the room and the thermostat, and his response was that they have been having problems with the programable thermostats, especially on the third floor. My last two stays were in rooms on the third floor. If they know the third-floor rooms have an issue with the programable thermostats, why not put me on the 4th or 5th floor?

I will not stay here again. They made no amends, offered nothing to make up for my uncomfortable stay. If you want to enjoy a comfortable night's sleep, go elsewhere, or at the least do not accept a room on the third floor!

I’m just ending a ten night stay and the Hilton Garden Inn Santa Ana has been a nice place to stay as a first time solo traveler to Costa Rica. There is no airport shuttle but a cab (or Uber) from the airport should only take about 15 minutes (and cost about $15-$20). The hotel is modern and the bilingual staff were very helpful. There are numerous shops, restaurants and cafes (and even a movie theater) steps from the front of the hotel. There’s also a bank with a 24 hour ATM on the far side of the building across the way. The street in front of the hotel gets a bit noisy in the evening so rooms that face the pool or the main road that passes the hotel are probably preferred if you like things quiet. The pool is very nice with a view of the mountains. The wifi has been very good during my stay and the Britt coffee maker and pods in the room have been wonderful. The hotel is about a 15 minute Uber ride into San Jose but during rush hour that will likely be a minimum of 30 minutes. The breakfast buffet in the morning has a nice variety of foods, including local fruit and coffee. I will probably go further afield on my next trip and stay somewhere outside of San Jose but this hotel will be first on my list if I need to stay somewhere near the airport or central San Jose.

My husband traveled for work and I tagged along. The hotel is only maybe 1 year old so it was very nice. Room was very large with a very high ceiling. We were in a handicap room so the shower was completely open which seemed somewhat odd and unnecessary as it was large enough for a wheelchair to easily get in and out and still have a partial wall or even a shower curtain to keep the floor from getting wet. The pool area is really nice with a very nice view. It was very breezy when we were there so we never really swam but the hot tub was great. Always plenty of clean towels. The complimentary breakfast was fantastic! Great selection (made to order omelets, fruit, breads and 4 other hot dishes per day. Service here was excellent. Underground parking was convenient and free. Lots of restaurants basically onsite at City Place. Large grocery store just across the street and down a block. Would love to stay here again.

The hotel is fairly new, it was very clean, staff was friendly. We had a problem and were offered another room but since it was just a stuck blind we refused. Within a few minutes maintenance came and fixed it. The only problem was the language barrier but we worked it out easily. The only other issue was the breakfast buffet was around $25 a person but there are places to eat within walking distance.

My wife and I spent a week at this newly opened hotel and were more than satisfied. The entire staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, fun and willing to go out of their way for the guests comfort. The decor and furniture of the hotel was pretty impressive. I will definitely be back. The only minus I could find is that its location is pretty much on the west end of the city, making for some extra minutes of. driving time.

We loved the large, sparkling clean rooms and would come back. However, the hotel seems to be cutting corners with breakfast and room service overall. Exact same breakfast every day and we often had to asking for butter and the tiniest toast in the world. Room is minimally furnished which is fine but bathroom needs hooks to hang towels and we were given only two cups for three people. It’d be great if rooms could be prepared for the correct number of guests as it’s a hassle to keep asking for things.

in a city that is not the most attractive or inviting, this is a great find. It has a great view and a wonderful pool. You can feel the newness in the lobby and the shops around (though overpriced) give you a good escape with things to do, just steps away.
