My room was clean and comfy. Shower was in the room -- a dorm room for 6. Lobbies are well appointed. Staff was super helpful. Just a block or so away from buses to everywhere in San Jose, or so it seemed. I was even able to walk to TicaBus to take the bus to Panama -- a bonus! Close...

Whether you are exploring San Jose or any neighbouring town or even country, we have a great location that allows you to easily access all the central bus stations and stops. As you found, the TicaBus station that travels through...

Friendly staff. Reasonable price. However, one cannot bring their friends over just to visit, without paying. Their friends would need to pay as well. I was hanging out with my friends who are staying at the hostel, and I was told that I had to leave.

I stayed in Aldea Hostel while attending a conference at a hotel down the road, so I didn't spend much time in the hostel outside of sleeping hours. It was extremely affordable (I stayed for five nights for around $200 USD) and relatively clean. I did find a cockroach in my bathroom on one of my final nights, but that's...

This was a great stopover where we could park the car, use the kitchen (though it's sparce), enjoy a hot shower and a clean bed yet be close to the city. Not glamorous but value for money. We didn't use the tours but there appears to be a complete set up for tours, group activities, maps and other traveller information....

We arrived in around 2am from a bus from Tamarindo. Not many places were open. We checked in 5 minutes before arriving at the hostel. 24hour service, friendly staff. Private room was very nice and the shared space including the outside area was a real retreat within the middle of the busy city. Definitely could hear through the walls, but...

The staff and volunteers made this place great to stay. Very helpful, relaxed and generally very good company. The location is good too; close to the centre of town and not so noisy, esp for a big city. From the hostel you can organise many different activities or a shuttle pickup to another location in Costa Rica as well.

Dorm rooms were clean, and en-suite but no hot water. We were in a dorm overlooking the road and because the window didn't fit in the frame there was noise all night long.
