Us: an adventurous couple from LA, stopped for a night in SJ before an early AM pickup from Exploradores for rafting. Likes: Clean & comforting. Walking distance to dinner options. Breakfast included. Warm H2O shower. Dislike: Echoing hallways, like in a museum. Beautiful, but loud at night especially when trying to wake up at 5:30am! Bring earplugs!

We were here for only one night, as we had to spend the night in San Jose on our way to Monteverde. This guesthouse is clean and not very expensive. The staff is helpful. The bed in the first room they gave us had some white fluffy unidentified bugs on it, the second room ( we had to change rooms...

nice enough hotel, good comfortable bed but no towels and very little storage area. the rooms close to the street are noisy and because we were close to reception, we could hear a lot of the people talking. sleep quality was poor.

The rooms and service are nice, although it wouldn't deserve 4 stars as mentioned on some websites. Wifi coverage is good, as is the location. Personnel is friendly and the rooms are spacious. Taxi to the bus station will cost you about 2500 colones or 5 usd. Certainly recommendable for a stay or layover in San Jose.

We stayed there in Feb 2014, it was safe, clean and convenient hotel for our downtown San Jose adventures, enjoyed daily free breakfast: excellent 2 eggs the way you want, toasts with delicious different local jams and free coffee/tea all day, local market was nearby so we saved lots of $ by not dining out and bringing nice fruits/snacks back...

My husband and I used San Jose as a stopping off point for other travels in Costa Rica and stayed at the Guesthouse each time. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and totally functional. The common area is also nice for checking email and hanging out. We had hot strong showers, free coffee all day and free breakfast each morning (nothing...

I arrived and the first guest house is really spacious and nice. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant over the phone as well as during my stay. Great value for your money because the quality of the lodging for the price, which included coffee all the time and breakfast in the morning and Wi-Fi, was awesome. The staff went...

At low cost we had a very clean, large room with private bathroom, here. Good WiFi, a Tourist Desk with good information, breakfast included and the whole day coffee and tea free. No Aircon or van, but in San José we did not need that. We were here and came back again, got the same, good room! We gave the...

I chose this hostel for overnight stay on a stop-over, mostly due to the central location and very responsive management. I planned originally another place, but they never responded. So I wrote to CR Guesthouse, and voila! It is what a budget hostel should is, in terms of wear and tear, but fit all my needs very well. The reception...
