If you are coming to Manuel Antonio or Quepos don't hesitate to visit Los Campesinos. It's located 45min away from the main road. You have to go through a dirt road (4x4 not needed but at least a small SUV or crossover is desirable). On the way you will cross a nice hanging bridge. We spent the day at Los... More

Community based rural tourism is not for everybody, but for an alternative travel experience it is a wonderful choice. Reserva Los Campesinos is located at the lower part of the Savegre River and is made up of 50% primary and 50% tropical humid forest, plus cascading waterfalls can be found everywhere on the property. Well maintained trails, some like the... More

Exceptionally beautiful place, very nice people, home-cooked meals over a woodburning stove. The mountain air is crisp and clear, and the streams and waterfalls are just lovely. It was a privilege to be here. I felt like a member of a very special rural community rather than a hotel guest. The variety of birds and plants was impressive - my... More

Our introduction to Los Campesinos could have been slightly easier, our little tour bus couldn't get traction on the steep climb out of the nearest village in the torrential rain, so we hiked... Yep it rains in rain forests even during the dry season. After a couple of soaking hours we reached this lovely place. The accommodation is simple but... More

If you want to discover a realCosta RIcan rural community in a beautiful natural setting, Los Campesinos is the place to go. The town and farms are on the hills near a gorge leading into the Savegre river. The gorge is surrounded by large waterfalls when we were there recently during the rainy season. There are many places for swimming... More

This week I visited Los Campesinos for the third time. The preserve and lodge support 17 families in the village. The waterfall and rural setting are peaceful and gorgeous. Everyone is friendly and eager to treat you as part of the community. The hike through the forest is very enjoyable as you learn about the plants they used to raise... More

Awesome remote place in the rain forest near Quepos, 16 km off main road. The drive into the forest is absolutely breath taking. You can drive or take a taxi from Quepos. This belongs to a farmer's coop that was given a grant to build an eco-lodge and they are doing a great job managing the place. They are true... More
