The people working at the hotel were very nice and caring.. Some of the rooms are better than others but the people working there will take care of you. Also, they will help you get around Costa Rica and will set you up with people who will give you a real adventure if you are looking for one.

It was almost the end of our trip through Costa Rica and so we decided to spend a little bit more money to get a nice room (most of the time we spent under $30 for the room). Because the Palms Hotel got a good review in Lonely Planet we went there and they were very friendly. The rooms looked...

What a terrible experience. We stayed in the "garden" rooms. Musty/moldy smell, grimy floor and bathroom, the sink was coming off the wall, the hand towells had actual holes and frayed like they were used for cleaning, the A/C was very noisy, there was no hot water no matter what we tried, the door stuck and had to be lifted...

We stayed for only one night at The Palms after reading the favorable review in Lonely Planet. I have to say the the owners were very friendly and the room was reasonable priced. However, the room smelled really badly of mold and we had to buy some inscense to tolerate it. Although the bedroom area was fine, the bathroom was...

The room was far from fancy, but was clean enough, had A/C, and delivered all it promised (slight problem with the bed board supporting the mattress, but not a big deal), for a good price. The best part was the hospitality. Super-friendly owner who went the extra mile to find us a guide and give us info we needed, and...

I stayed at the Palms in December when my favorite hotel in Jimenez was full one night. We didn’t get a chance to eat at the restaurant so I can’t vouch for that but the reception people were very nice and helpful. I got booked into a room but when the lock on the door didn’t work I was upgraded...

I stayed at The Palms for 4 nigths in December 2008 - We really awanted to visit the Osa but couldn't afford the higher priced logges in Matalpo so we decided on The Palms. After driving 10 hours straight from Mal Pais to Puerto Jimenez we were greated by Pablo who is the Chef at the hotel's kitchen - he...

I visited the Palms in April of 2008, it having been recommended by a friend who had stayed there previously. Having heard so much about the wilderness of the Osa, and equally as much about all the obscenely priced 'luxury resorts' contained therein I wasn't sure exactly what to expect for my money when I arrived... WELL!! To say that...

First of all, I have to say that the food at the restaurant is delicious!! A great place to eat - amazing guacamole!! But, that's the only good thing. Even though we didn't end up stay there, I'd like to recount our experience as we were checking in. We had a long trip from San Jose and stopped to eat...

These guest specifically requested a "backpacker" style room. Before their arrival we exchanged many email regarding specific room types rates and tour options available. They chose a $20 backpacker style room which I explained was very basic with just 2 twin beds and air conditioning. The prices that were quoted for various tours were obtained by reputable tour operators. There...

We were happily surprised by the charm of room. It was decorated very tastefully. The room also had a television ,which was a treat after staying in simple rooms for most of our journey. It also had a refrigerator and air conditioning. The bathroom was a little small, but at least there was hot water. There is a road in...

“The older rooms have less exposure to noise. Weekend party noise from the restaurant may be an issue for all rooms.”
  • Very basic clean bathroom with fresh paint & electric overhead shower water heater
  • One double, one single bed in older room
