Our stay at the Mariposario could not have been more pleasant. The owners, Ryan and Josh, were very accommodating and welcoming. Andrea who was at the front desk and served breakfast was very pleasant and a source of information. Rosa, the cook, is an expert in preparing delicious and attractive meals. Summer is a delightful child and with the perfect...

Lodging at this hotel was amazing! People are so kind and everything is perfect (food, laundry, rooms, etc.). Seeing butterflies flying while you're eating your breakfast is a priceless moment. If you want to relax and forget everything of your routine, I recommend Montezuma Gardens! I will definitely go back there when I'll have the occasion :-)

We were fortunate to stay more than 5 consecutive days in Montezuma Gardens and it was the nicest hotel of our trip. The room as the bathroom was very large and mostly flawless. The staff is very open and friendly, we even made friends! I almost forgot the breakfast ... exquisite: they were different and varied during all our stay....

We really enjoyed our stay here. We traveled with our 7 year old - we all enjoyed the butterfly garden and she really enjoyed the dogs and cat on the premises. They have a wonderful balcony where we saw monkeys and a variety of beautiful birds while we ate our delicious breakfast. The staff is extremely cool and helpful about...

Your host Ryan is helpful and friendly in everyway, the location is great if you don't mind a short walk into town, a walk where one was sure to come across some wildlife, the room was comfortable, the mattress good, the neighbourhood quiet except for the neighbourhood dogs but the best thing was the friendly folk and the scrumptious breakfasts,...

Mariposario is a great guesthouse. Our room was gorgeous with a great view over the butterfly garden. The atmosphere in the house was homely and very chilled out. The breakfast was amazing. Out of the four places I stayed in Costa Rica this was my favourite despite the up hill walk from the town.

As someone who travels often, I find myself spending hours researching locations to stay during my travels. Montezuma Gardens was found through one of these random internet searches. I think credit should be contributed to their wonderfully developed website. The communication before our arrival was wonderful. The owners were able to answer questions and get us squared away with the...

We stayed at this bed and breakfast for four nights and enjoyed it very much. The breakfast was excellent, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable. Our room had a balcony, which we ended up spending our evenings on. Having a car is highly recommended, the road up to the b&b is not...

We travel quite a bit and I must put this Bed & Breakfast at the top of my list. I am Costa Rican and my wife is American and we both felt at home! You can tell this B&B has invested alot in making the rooms, the beds, and the enviornment comfortable. The sheets, pillows, towels and decorations in the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Mariposario Montezuma Gardens and Butterfly Brewing Co. A lovely B&B, micro-brewery, butterfly garden, bar and restaurant in the jungle. We are located 1.6 km from Montezuma center at the entrance to the upper waterfall trail. The location is not right in town but in a tranquil area surrounded by mountain jungle. The road to the Mariposario is very steep but you do not need a 4x4 car to arrive here. ... more   less
