They charged us 80$ for one night , the service was excellent but : the shower had hair "leftovers" of hair (probably from the last guest). Air condition was very loud . Bed was uncomfortable. Breakfast - very poor and slow ( extra tico time)...

Before responding to this review I sent this guest two messages on TripAdvisor and also tried to send a personal email to her (I cannot make out her email address), to find out more details about her complaints and have not received a response yet. I am sorry there was hair in the shower... don't know whether we are talking...

Cozy and calm place. Good room with mango tree wood floors... Extraordinary greeting. We had to order a bunch of flowers at 7 p.m. - we got all help from the staff and got the flowers. We also left an ipad and phone in the safety box - all was safe. Want to thank Lorena, the manager. She was open...

Me and my girlfriend passed 4 nights at this hotel and we really enjoyed it! The rooms are clean, A/C in it, good price, staff is really friendly and helpful (Lorena took care of us giving us tips about the place and booking some nice expeditions). Best part of our stay was the morning (a simple but good breakfast included...

The hotel had changed hands in January and our November booking had not been passed on to the current management. However, the delightful new manager, Lorena, quickly found us (two couples) two rooms. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She recommended a local restaurant and organised a tour for us the following day to Manuel Antonio National Park. We...

Hotel Mandarina is a secluded getaway nestled in the trees but close enough to all the action. The room was very clean, the breakfast was homemade and delicious. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the hospitality is phenomenal. The pool was clean and refreshing, and the staff can connect you with tours and tell you all the great places to...

My family and I are hearty travelers, and we're pretty easy to please. Not much phases us, and we're go with the flow folks. But we felt that we had to warn others that this hotel is not at all what you see advertised, and is falling apart cosmetically and mechanically. Over a hot stay to Costa Rica, one of...

The Hotel is under new management since January and since then many maintenance jobs have been performed to upgrade the place. The photos posted show the bodegas for tools and pool pump and were most likely taken before January 15. The new mangement is committed to improve the cleanliness of the grounds and the roooms.

I did not find any of the issues that other people mentioned here ! I would recommend this place to all my friends and family.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Mandarina is a small boutique hotel. It has a history in Manuel Antonio since the early 1990s. It has previously been known as Hotel El Dorado Mojado and Hotel Kekoldi. In 2007, the 12 unit hotel has been given the new name Hotel Mandarina. Mandarina is known as a small orange, like a tangerine, in Costa Rica. Hotel Mandarina is located in Manuel Antonio, just outside the small Pacific coast port town of Quepos. We are at the highest elevation on the main road about halfway between Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park. If you choose to drive, you can park your rental car in our secure lot behind the reception building. Manuel Antonio is only 3 1/2 hours by car or bus from San Jose, so long as you take the shortest route. Faster yet is a 20 minute plane ride from San Jose on Nature Air or Sansa Airlines. Quepos and Manuel Antonio are fairly easy to navigate since there are only a few main roads. We are just 3 km away from some of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica with the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park at the end of the main road. A twenty minute walk down the secondary road from the hotel will bring you to a secluded beach. The local bus stops 50 yards from the hotel and brings you to the main beach or Manuel Antonio National Park in 5 minutes. There are several restaurants and cafes within walking distance as well as services like supermarket, bank/ATM, bars, yoga/spa, gym, and souvenir stores among others. ... more   less

“Ask if you need anything. Market across the street along with a pharmacy and bank. Shower could have fit a family of four. Bed was comfy and got the hang of the air conditioner so as not to freeze ourselves. Lots of counter space to set your stuff on and outlets to recharge camera and computers. A frig and safe were provided and a closet with hangers. Lovely.”
