We came to this hotel after reading the reviews of other Guests that posted on Trip Advisor, so we thought it would be an affordable and clean place to sleep while visiting the park. Our room had a mildew smell, but the beds were clean. So we thought...it's OK. But little did we realize how paper thin the walls are...

Great location, nice rooms, friendly staff, close to everything you want to do. Went on this trip by myself and not once did I feel alone. Everyone was helpful, informative and just overall fantastic. Do not hesitate to look for anything else as this is what you want as a place to stay.

We stayed here for 2 nights. Nice , beautiful budget hotel which gives you the feeling of resort. Staff was nice. Excellent location on the main road, close to beach and national park. One can take bus right from the front. Super market store just on the other side of the road, But all rooms are still away from any...

We enjoyed our studio room for two nights: it was clean and comfortable with a strong wi-fi connection. Breakfasts on the patio by the pool were tasty, served by a friendly and attentive staff. The front desk employees were also great, helping with directions, restaurant suggestions, and the loan of an umbrella when it was pouring rain.

Nice enough hotel but there isn't much I can say that I liked about it. Rooms are very basic, not even a proper toilet door. Room didn't smell very good. Breakfast quite nice. Pool area nice but only 3 beds and it's in the shade most of the day. Good location is about the best part, very overpriced for what...

Thanks for your review. All the comments from our guests are welcome as they serve us to improve the things that are point out. Things to keep in mind are that this is a very humid area...It is the rainforest after all ! so humidity is something that we have to deal with and even with dehumidifiers is not always...

Overall, we had a good experience...but there are some caveats. First of all, make sure you are careful with your room selection. We spent our entire 10-day vacation in room G (except the last night). Room G was fantastic! We had a great view of the grounds, it was large, and it was clean. Our final night, we stayed in...

Thanks for your review. It definitely help us to improve those areas that need to be improved and others to know about it. There is difference in the room category and not only in the price. A couple of the standard rooms are windowless (because of the law we can not have windows when the wall is adjacent to another...

Overall, very good stay. Clean room, clean and well-stocked bathroom. Bed was a little uncomfortable (springs lost their tension in areas). Wifi with provided password did not work. Breakfast was delicious, surroundings were beautiful, and staff was awesome! I was a late check-in (after reception hours), and the security guard was told to help me so there was no problem.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Mandarina is a small boutique hotel. It has a history in Manuel Antonio since the early 1990s. It has previously been known as Hotel El Dorado Mojado and Hotel Kekoldi. In 2007, the 12 unit hotel has been given the new name Hotel Mandarina. Mandarina is known as a small orange, like a tangerine, in Costa Rica. Hotel Mandarina is located in Manuel Antonio, just outside the small Pacific coast port town of Quepos. We are at the highest elevation on the main road about halfway between Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park. If you choose to drive, you can park your rental car in our secure lot behind the reception building. Manuel Antonio is only 3 1/2 hours by car or bus from San Jose, so long as you take the shortest route. Faster yet is a 20 minute plane ride from San Jose on Nature Air or Sansa Airlines. Quepos and Manuel Antonio are fairly easy to navigate since there are only a few main roads. We are just 3 km away from some of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica with the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park at the end of the main road. A twenty minute walk down the secondary road from the hotel will bring you to a secluded beach. The local bus stops 50 yards from the hotel and brings you to the main beach or Manuel Antonio National Park in 5 minutes. There are several restaurants and cafes within walking distance as well as services like supermarket, bank/ATM, bars, yoga/spa, gym, and souvenir stores among others. ... more   less
