Villa Caletas review My husband visited Villa Caletas back in early July of 2022 for two weeks. Twenty years ago I had lunch with my family and a host, who suggested we stop by at this place. I remember it being a wonderful destination to come back to with my future husband (not kidding!). It is a beautiful place that reminded me of a Meditteranean style home. Situated at the top of the mountain, the breathtaking views offered calmness, which was exactly what I needed after a busy year at work. This place is meant for one to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. It may not be some people´s cup of tea but it was surely for my husbadn and I. Service was amazing and staff catered to our every need. Jairo, the staff from the pool area, always had a smile and ready to make sure that we had evcerything we needed. He knows us well enough to memorize my “usual” drink and snacks. The staff, including the wonderful chefs, at the Anfiteatro Restaurant were equally attentive and accommodating our dietary requests. I did not get tired of dining with them for our entire stay. The beach area is unique since it offers rocky shores and would not be suitable for swimming. However, I was able to relax on the cove especially during low tide, exploring the life of different crabs that found home there. Karla is the attendant we met at the beach and she brightened our visits with her smiles and energetic character. She also introduced us to a charming tortoise, Pancho. My husband and I also enjoyed the spa amenities a couple of times and it did not dissappoint. It was an absolute dream to spend our weeks in this place and will be looking forward to more visits in the future.

Villa Caletas was magical. It is such a beautiful and unique property with rooms and pathways tucked away on the hilltop. We stayed in and saw many of the rooms on our trip and each was unique and well furnished. The entire property feels a little like a jungle castle! On our 4th night at the property we stayed at the Zephyr Palace and it was AMAZING. The pools, the rooms, the event venue...wow. To top it all off, the staff was just lovely. Michael, the special events manager, was so helpful and accommodating to our large group and did a fantastic job helping us coordinate my sister's wedding at Zephyr Palace. Jose at the concierge was great, as was Michael at the Ampiteatro restaurant (oh, also the food is incredible. It's the only restaurant nearby, but it doesn't matter at all because I could have eaten there for a month with no complaint.) Jairo at the pool was super friendly and a joy to talk to. The spa is also well worth a visit - the massage room has massive sliding glass doors that look out over the ocean, and you can hear monkeys and birds right outside the door. We also felt like we nearly had the place all to ourselves by going in the shoulder season, which was delightful. Also since the hotel is so high up, the sunsets and views are absolutely incredible.

My husband and I had our wedding at Zephyr Palace on July 30th. My goal as a bride from California was to have a wedding that was elegant with a setting that would captivate our guests and give them an experience of a lifetime. Everything I wanted was absolutely accomplished. Days have now gone by and I am still in shock with how seamless this experience went along with how warm each staff member was to us. Michael Alvarado was our Sales Executive and he was responsive, accommodating, detailed, and kind. 10/10 on professionalism and flexibility. At one point an older guest of ours could not walk the stairs to their room and within minutes he had switched their location resulting in tears from the entire family. Even my stoic fiancé was emotional. Let’s be clear - that kind of customer service and compassion is so rare in any business setting. Our guests felt special and safe at Villa Caletas. I even heard that another similar situation happened later on and he handled it without hesitation. The wedding itself was perfection. I do want to mention that I worked for years at Pebble Beach Resorts in group sales and events. I have seen and helped work on some of the most exclusive parties and events from people around the world. This being said - my expectations for events is very high and how a property functions at the cellular level is noticeable to me. Knowing this - I again want to say that I see Villa Caletas and their staff as a world class destination in terms of customer service, property beauty/views, and overall functionality of their group events. The flow of vendors and communication is top tier. I also want to mention a couple names of souls who we saw often bouncing room to room: Jose - front desk: so warm and accommodating. He extended our check out allowing us to soak in even more memories the day after the wedding Jarro - pool side: smile and attentiveness to our group making us feel at home Adrien - continued to help us with our bags and was such a joy Vladimir - drove us around constantly with a smile despite the hour and how many trips we took Restaurant Staff - we had a question about papaya and one gentleman just brought the fruit out and showed us. Another walked us to wildlife (young gentleman with braces) so we would not miss anything I also want to bring attention to the wildlife. Seeing the macaws, monkeys, iguanas, and toucans in the trees took our breath away. How can a place with incredible staff, food, and rooms also be this saturated with amazing animals. You just can’t beat it. I know this is long but again, as someone who worked in high end events I just want to give acknowledgment to how magical this place is. This review is not just based on emotion but actual observation of how the property functioned as a whole on one of the biggest days of my life. Thank you again to everyone. If you are debating your wedding here, don’t. Michael is as good as you can get. Just do your part to communicate your vision in a timely manor and he will do everything he can to make your day as incredible as mine was.

We enjoyed a very quiet, beautiful, and relaxing evening at Villa Caletas. The rooms was clean, comfortable, and offered a very peaceful evening of rest. The restaurant was excellent. Evening late in the evening, even in the rain, the temperatures were confutable, the food was excellent, and environment memorable. The staff was very helpful and polite. Keep in mind that there are a good bit of steps. If you struggle with going up and down steps be sure to ask the staff for a room that is more accessible. The elevation provides the most amazing views. We enjoyed a breakfast, included with the room, as we looked over a million dollar view. I would have to say it was one of the best views and experiences of the trip.

We didn't stay at this hotel, but we came here for massages twice, and I highly recommend! Yuliana was amazing -- she was very intuitive in her massage style in that she knew right where to go to release my knots. I requested deep pressure, and she really did a great job. The pavilion where they do the massages has an incredible panoramic view from high up on the hill. Definitely a must see. Ask for Yuliana!

We hosted a wedding at Villa Caletas over the course of 4 days in June 2022 and had an incredible experience! It is a beautiful setting with different venues designed to host events. The views for the wedding and events were breathtaking! The entire staff was wonderful to work with throughout the planning process and especially during our time at the hotel. In particular, our wedding coordinator Mariana Carmona was a dream to work with. She was responsive to our needs while planning, offering her ideas and suggestions, being transparent about what was possible and the budget, all while making us feel comfortable while planning from the United States. Mariana knows the wedding industry extremely well, works incredibly hard, and has great relationships with all of the vendors we used. We hosted a welcome BBQ, rehearsal dinner and wedding for all of our guests and the entire experience was so easy during the planning and during the weekend because of Mariana! We also worked with Karol Castillo for all of our shuttles and tours, she was also great to work with. Karol was very responsive, assisting with all aspects of the travel and the excursions for our guests. There can be a lot of unknowns with destination weddings, but you are in amazing hands with the entire team at Villa Caletas!

This was my third time in Costa Rica and as a couple our second time. Hotel Villa Caletas is a very nice tucked away Boutique Hotel in the Rainforest. It is build in a Mountain, on different levels, which makes it so attractive, when you are looking for more privacy. It was one of our best experiences yet. The infinity pool, overlooking the trees with a view of the ocean is fantastic. Even when it rains, the serenity and Ambiente was feeling fantastic. We visited end of May, the rainy season starts in June, so yes we had some rain showers, expected in the Rainforest. At 6 in the morning on the balcony you are able to see the monkeys coming by, Tucans, Macaw Parots, all kind of different animals. Just the view from seeing the clouds moving up, the sunsets with a view over the ocean. At the end of their season, it was not overcrowded and the Service was still first class. That is what it was feeling to me. The cook is fantastic, and the arrangements on our plate was certainly for the eye. The only reason I don’t rate a full 5 stars, nobody is perfect and there is always room for improvement. Yes, here and there it could use some update, but as it is, definitely it has charm. The beach is not for swimming, the sea is to rough. But for sunbathing with a snack and drink, perfect and private. Thanks to the whole staff who made the experience unforgettable, I definitely want to come back.
