This place is FANTASTIC. This is our second trip and we will go every year if we can. The staff is wonderful and friendly and helpful. The swimming pool is the best and the rooms comfortable and clean. The breakfast was great as well. We ate in town so did not eat any other meals at the hotel. Cocktails were pretty expensive but the beer was cheap.

Great hotel and pool, with space to host banquets, weddings, and amazing parties. Open air gym. Great fun quirky art, and 2 cat lobby ambassadors. Staff all helpful and friendly. Help with everything. Security present, and safe environment for solo traveler. Everything on premises or close. Five minutes from Sansa Airport and just over 10 driving to town, dock. Nice restaurant and bar with many choices of local dishes, open till 930pm. I'm a Hospitality veteran and found this hotel comfortable, fun, clean, mixed culture guests and locals, and full of personality. I didn't trust some of the reviews online, of people who found it too quiet, or not having what they say they needed, like what??? (I had stayed 8 days before this in a different place, entirely outdoor setting, no ac, fan, windows, doors, mirrors, hot water, barely electric. People don't 'need' half as much as they've convinced themselves they do!!!) And I've worked in the HIGHEST rated luxury hotels in NYC! (Pierre, Peninsula, Plaza Athenee, etc) Unhappy people will always find something to complain of! Casa Roland totally spoiled me my last 4 days in CostaRica; ac, wifi, 24 hour desk/security, super clean room, comforts, massage service (Jessica of Rosie's Massage, excellent!), restaurant, bar, space, quiet, lovely staff and guests. I can see this property full of guests and families holding amazing indoor and outdoor events! There are some vacant stores and food shops ready to go, (snack shop, gift shop, gourmet outdoor kitchen, etc.), ocean view rooms under construction, and I see no reason this place isn't THE spot to book family events, gatherings, or special catered parties! I'd definitely go again!

Charming and comfortable. This is a hotel with whimsy. Murals and painted walls greet you around every corner. The staff are friendly and helpful. Food - both the ahi bowl for dinner and buffet breakfast - was delish! Bed and four pillows comfy. The pool and bar area was spacious and fun. The older dining areas (now closed) look like they could tell a story. Don’t pass this place by bases on unkind and untrue reviews. While older, this plane is a good value. Someday the new and faceless resorts may eat up Golfino, but I hope this place will always be here, charming and welcoming.

The resort once once nice, but is now tired looking. The pillows were terribly lumpy, but the worst part was the black mold on the ceiling and walls. When we mentioned it and asked to change rooms, we were shown 4 other rooms, each of which had a different level of mold. Unacceptable! My husband is severely asthmatic so we are extremely lucky he didn't have an asthma attack.

I went to the bathroom, noticed some type of gravel on the lounge chair by the pool where I had been sitting since I got there. I removed it but some of it was left, turns out somebody put granulated bleach ONLY where I was sitting “by mistake”. The solution the manager provides? A $12 pizza after burning my legs and bum. Then they said they didnt have any cameras to later hear somebody say that the camera is not working. Of course. Something really messed up goes on on that hotel, I do not recommend it and to the people who does go: dont trust the staff.

So many problems with this place. We stayed on the first floor and the ceiling was so low I could touch it! The hallways and room were dark, damp and smelled of mildew. We hoped that by running the air conditioning the mildew smell would go away but that didn't work. So we asked for a new room and they gave us one that had a big dehumidifier running! The hotel was almost empty so we didn't understand why we got such a poor room with hardly any guests. The place felt abandoned. We went to dinner and the food wasn't good. In the morning the free breakfast was not good, even the pinto was dry. The restaurant is near the pool and so much was in bad shape, In the restrooms most of the faucets and toilets were out of service. So much of the hotel was in need of maintenance, it was probably a nice place many years ago. The last straw was we had a reservation for three nights and when we said we wanted to cancel the third night they said their policy was we had to pay. On check-in they had charged us for all three nights and said we had needed to cancel on check-in. Note that this was the morning of the second day for it was way more than 24 hours in advance of the third night. I've never encounter this policy in all of my hotel stays, what a joke!!

We booked the standard double room and it was as advertised. The room had lots of space with shelving/storage and a beautiful bathroom. The property has a massive pool, restaurant, lounge areas, gym, and private parking. The buffet breakfast was good, but if you got there too late it seemed you were out of luck - we didn't witness any refreshing of options.
