The Turtle Beach Lodge is one of the many "lodges" in that area, but it's location beats all odds. It is located 20-30 mn north of Tortuguero (by boat), between the Canal and the Caribbean Sea, so totally isolated. Knowing that, it is estonishing how the lodge is able to provide its guests with the amount of quality shown: accomodation...

This is the only lodge in Tortuguero where you can take kayaks out by yourself and get to parts of the Tortuguero protected area that are seldom frequented by anyone else. It is the farthest away from Tortuguero itself. My husband and I kayaked 4 miles into the jungle by ourselves and saw a troop of 15 monkeys leap across...

First of all let me say that we loved the location as it has the Caribbean on one side and the canals of Tortuguero on the other. The accommodations are seriously spartan, which is really OK but pillows are not at all comfortable because they filled with chunks of foam. But the real problem is the food, which is just...

Everything at Turtle Beach Lodge exceeded my expectations. The rooms were quaint, sleeping with the jungle sounds around me was much more comfortable than I had imagined. The surroundings are beautiful and the location was excellent with the gorgeous Caribbean shore in front and jungle in the back. Cruising through the jungle canals by boat was one of my favorite...

The only way there is by boat! The last half mile is through a very narrow canal with jungle on both sides and completely over your head. Disney could only wish for this; it is real, not artificial. The grounds are amazing, clean with a great variety of plants and trees. The Caribbean Sea is 100 yards from your room...

I was there for a weekend. The place is beautiful. It is a piece of paradise. I really loved its quietness. You can listen to the waves breaking from the cabins. The food is great. Cabins are simple but they worth a try. If you love the jungle, solace, quietness... this is the place for you. Be sure to bring...

We took a 3 day, 2 night tour of Tortuguero National Park while staying at this Lodge. Rooms and food were very good, particularly considering the remote location. The tour on the canal boat gave us a close-up view of jungle wild life such as howler monkeys, spider monkeys and white-faced capuchin monkeys. They were also in the trees above...

The location of this hotel is wonderful. A short walk from the Caribbean shore - wherever you go you can hear the sound of the sea. The gardens are beautiful and the rain forest is all around. The boat trips were amazing and you feel as though you have stepped back in time as you navigate the stretch of water...

We stayed for 3 days at Turtle Beach Lodge, and had an amazing experience there. Ricardo our guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful with every aspect of our stay. It was just the 2 of us with him for the entire trip, and as a result we learnt a huge amount about the wildlife. We saw so much, both...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The area of Tortuguero is rightfully called The Amazon of Costa Rica because access is only by boat on Jungle Rivers. Turtle Beach Lodge, 5 miles north of the town of Tortuguero, is a secluded resort spanning 175 acres with miles of jungle trails, a meandering private canal, and a half mile of beach adjoining still more isolated beaches. The lodge accommodates approximately 80 guests; assisted by a well trained staff and guides who ease you into an exciting jungle experience. Stay in the beautifully landscaped cabinas, swim in our turtle shaped pool, relax in the adjacent shady hammock hut with food and drink from the restaurant and bar. ... more   less
