Don't expect luxurious accommodation - it is pretty basic and looks like has been many years since there has been any refurbishment. The bathroom is particularly basic with old shower, toilet and handbasin that has seen better years. Location is however very good and there is opportunity for some great sight-seeing. Buffet food was good.

We stayed at Pachira Lodge for two nights, it were one of the coolest hotels I ever stayed at. No windows, only mosquito nets and the howler monkeys screaming right outside your house all morning. There was an amazing wildlife in the hotel's garden, and when we visited the small town of Tortuguero we had the luck to see baby...

My husband and I stayed at Pachira Lodge for 2 nights as part of Caravan tour. We were forewarned that this lodge is in a jungle, no airconditioning, will see some bugs because of its natural setting, so we were not surprised. We stayed in December 25 and 26, supposedly dry season, but had rain at night and early morning....

Stayed here in November 2012 and really loved it - despite non stop torrential rain (what do you expect in a rainforest !) The whole experience, from leaving the coach behind for the boat trip to the Lodge, to visiting the beach, the boat trips along the river...it was all really magic ! The accommodation is clean and comfortable, in...

Our party of 6 adults stayed 2 nights here and loved it. It rained and rained but it's a rain forest. No windows block the jungle sounds and the rooms are basic but comfortable. The whole lodge is on "stilts" so the jungle fills every nook and cranny. Monkeys woke us careening around on the roof at night and howler...

The Aninga lodge is located in one of the most beautiful settings that I have ever encountered. Truly paradise with lovely paths leading to the cabins. The cabins were basic but clean and attractive.with nice little porches. No glass windows but screens instead. No television, radio or phone. You must remember not to flush toilet paper but to deposit it...

The getting there is long but interesting, it is a lodge in the rainforest and everything has to come in by small boats, but it is very nicely appointed, I would suggest "refreshing" the bathroom fixtures. Food is pretty good for buffet style, except for the stops at La Ceiba Restaurant coming in and out, those meals were really bland....

We spent 2 nights in one of the single cabins at the adjoining property to Pachira Lodge. We liked this better than the 4 rooms to a bldg at PL. One is truly in a jungle setting with Howler monkeys doing what they do which is Howl (early morning) & tree frogs "peeping" at night. There are no windows to...

There are no roads to Tortuguero, so everything has to come in by air or boat. "Air" consists of a small plane flying by when the rain lets up a bit, but hey, you're in the rainforest, so no complaints! Boat trips into the national park are really nice, and Tortuguero itself is interesting, but the real thrill was watching...

The best part of this lodge is the boat trip in to the national forest. This is a commercial feeling operation with large groups being shuttled in and out. The lodge books people for 2 and 3 day trips all of which include a trip into the town of Tortuguero (not so interesting), a boat trip, a short walk in...
