We stayed at Mawamba for two nights as part of our 15 night honeymoon visit to Costa Rica. We enjoyed Mawamba immensely, not only for the boat trip to get there but for the friendliness and knowledge of the staff, particularly our guide Steven. We saw the Green Turtles laying their eggs on one of nights and also saw many...

You can only get here by boat. Rooms were clean--no air, tv, phone. etc. Meals were served there and were ok. We had problems with the hot water, and if the room next to us was taking a shower, no water or cold water. The hot water seemed to be better toward the end of our stay but the temp...

I just returned from 9 days in Costa Rica and this property was the worst. I arrived and upgraded to the superior room quickly due to the standard room was dirty and was comparable to an old cabin in a run down U.S. state park and public shower. The superior room was not much better but I was forced to...

Tarzan would love it here. There are canals for him to swim in, giant vines to swing from, monkeys to befriend, and another king of the jungle - the jaguar - to compete with. Wrong time of year for turtle nesting ... gotta come back for turtle nesting. We did, however, see sloths, spider and howler monkeys, lizards, lots and...

Dear Doug_Doodle, Thank you for brining a smile to our faces! We loved how you described the Tortuguero experience and the way you describe it really tells what happens here everyday. Mawamba is a great choice if you want a real adventure on the Caribean side. I traveled alone, picked up at my hotel in Escazu. From the minute I was picked up, my guide Henry was engaging and informative about what we were seeing along the way.
