From abroad people fly to Juan Santamaría International Airport in Alajuela that is just 20 minutes from the Capital City (San José) and then drive to Puerto Viejo (Car rental or shuttle: aprox. 4 hours). There are also local flights to Limón from San José and then 1 hour drive to Puerto Viejo from Limón.
