The moment we entered the Shawandha we relaxed completely, in the artful ambiance of this exquisite ecolodge. The service was exceptionally gracious, from the attentive staff at breakfast and dinner to those who kept the grounds and our room spotlessly clean. This is luxury in the jungle, simple yet elegant with beautiful wood, tile art, and stone sculptures. Listening to...

Shawandha Lodge was everything I imagined it would be. Perfectly situated in the lush rainforest with the beach a short 5 minute walk away. The lodge is Balinese style with a lovely open air restaurant surrounded by beautiful tropical flowers and native sculptures; comfy couches for pre-dinner drinks; and winding pathways in the rainforest that take you to your own...

In the nearly 20 years we have come to Costa Rica, Shawanhda remains one of our favorite places. It is extremely tasteful without being ostentatious, respectful of nature and yet comfortable. The love and attention the owners have put into this place is apparent from the tile mosaic of the bathroom decor to the beautifully presented delicious breakfasts and dinners....

This was my husband's and my second stay at Shawandha since 2008. We had such a great time staying here and in the area previously that we decided to come back for 7 nights. The staff arranged our activities for us and were always helpful. The wait staff served delicious drinks and food. The Jaguar Rescue Centre is a must...

Thought we were in a Jungle retreat. This is our 3rd place we stayed in on our trip and it just gets better and better. Our walk to our cabin was just a little adventure. But the monkeys we saw across the road near the path to the beach, are a lot smaller then what they sound. The big spiders...

My husband and I loved Shawandha! The bungalows are amazing and the set up with the bathroom winding down behind the living area is great. Also, the front porch is a wonderful place to relax and view butterflies, toucans, etc. The breakfast is top notch with fresh fruit, toast and eggs. My only wish is that they had a bar...

The location and the idea of this place are fascinating (it's properly 'in the jungle'), but we felt that the line between 'natural' and ' a bit scruffy' wasn't ideal..... The bungalows are big and spacious, but they're also pretty rough around the edges. The bed linen is exhausted and fell off the bed every single night, the mosquito-proofing is...

We had the pleasure of staying at Shawandha the rooms were excellent. But more over the food there was unsurpassed. The quality of their French food, rivaled the finer resturants in France. The propriator of this establishment, really knows how fine food should taste. Even if you don't stay at the Shawandha Lodge you should stop by for a fine...
