My husband and I had an amazing time at Mother Dear. The house is absolutely stunning and has everything you can possibly need. The view from the porch is so beautiful. We could have sat there for a month. The bird watching especially in the morning was fabulous. The bed was extremely comfortable and you can't beat sleeping and waking... More

Based on the reviews we expected to enjoy our time at Mother Dear.... we didn't realize we would love it as much as we did!! There was nothing more we could want for. Jimmy and Debbie have thought of every detail. From the welcome note on the bed, to the fridge stocked with drinks and treats to the flowers in... More

We stayed at Mother Dear for 6 nights and loved every minute of it. This was our 2nd visit to Puerto Viejo, but our first time staying at Mother Dear and north of town on the Playa Negra. We absolutely loved it. It is much less crowded than staying in Cocles, but still an easy walk or cab ride into... More

Great accommodation in a ideal location far away enough from downtown to be quiet but close enough to walk in easily. Jimmy & Debbie always want to do what they can to help you and give great advise on Puerto Viejo.

All the other reviews were spot on, this was a gorgeous place and location. The view from the property was lovely looking out to the garden and sea. Jimmy & Debbie were great hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. We walked to the town along the beach stopping off at the point (a great local bar). A... More

Mother Dear is quite a find. It's a gorgeous property, the cabins offer the beach, a tropical jungle, and a treehouse all in one. The cabin is super clean and brand new. It has the air of a private oasis, a large shower that seems to open into the trees, all local wood floors, walls, and a porch complete with... More

Jimmy and Debbie are the most gracious hosts. Thoughtful and helpful, they were available to answer any questions but also valued our privacy. Mother Dear is simply beautiful. This was the first place we stayed on our honeymoon and the only place we will absolutely stay in again. We woke up with the sun every morning, sipped our coffee while... More

Everything about Mother Dear is perfect... the location... the view... the accommodations and most importantly the hosts Jimmy and Debbie! Jimmy and Debbie made us feel like invited guests from the moment we introduced ourselves. They were there with helpful advise when you needed them and we never felt that we lacked privacy. We loved the sound of the waves... More

I don't normally feel it's necessary to review the places I go, however Mother Dear is a small private establishment run by an amazing couple who rely almost entirely on word of mouth to rent out the 2 cabins on their property. The pictures here on Tripadvisor appear almost too good to be true, but in fact hardly do it... More

Two hand-crafted hardwood cottages by the sea. Built for maximum air circulation, the cottages are elevated, cooled by ocean breezes during the day and mountain backdrafts at night. Beach music and forest sounds help you rest, relax, and renew. Beautiful hardwood floors and custom furniture make for a warm and cozy nest.
