My boyfriend and I stayed in Cabinas Guarana back in January for only one night while we were passing through Puerto Viejo. Let me just say it was a very nice place and I think we only paid about $39 cash for the night. We had a HUGE room and it was very nicely decorated - as well as a...

This hotel is a very nice place to stay. We have used this hotel many times. One of the reasons, its child friendly, rooms are very clean and I’m able to cook my own food, a feeling of living with the natives and sometimes with the diversity of other hotel guests, develop new recipes. This tropical garden has a wide...

This hotel was a very nice find, in an area where is becoming somewhat difficult to find a nice place for a good price. The rooms are large and clean, beds comfortable, the tropical yard lovely! Staff generally courteous and helpful. Excellent location in town, very easy access to everything. Would definitely stay there again!

Guarana is the perfect place to stay in Puerto Viejo if you are looking for a clean, cheap, friendly, and artistic environment. It perfectly matches the rustic, easy-going pace or Puerto Viejo itself, and we had a wonderful week as a result. The staff is extremely friendly, and the owners are more than accomodating. You will also likely meet a...

Cabinas Guarana offers nice comfortable rooms for $55. The rooms are basic and brightly coloured with a fan (no A/C) and mosquito net. The hotel is located in the centre of the down but far enough away from any noise. Free internet access is also provided. Had a few issues with the hot water which were sorted out very quickly.

Although we didn´t actually get to stay here, we had an extremely bad experience with them. We called from within Costa Rica to book a room which they said was available for the next 5 days, as we had wanted. The receptionist said, though, that we needed to email our request over the internet, that she couldn´t book it over...

Hotel Guarana is a very cute place. It's in a great location - close to the beach, bars, restaurants, etc...but a few blocks away from all the action so you don't hear the noise. It is kind of a party place...I'd consider it just a step up from a hostel. You get the common rooms where you can meet fellow...

This charming spot, away from the noise, was the best stop on our trip exploring the eastern side of Costa Rica and Panama. We loved the owner and the camraderie of the other guests. We wish we had stayed longer and will definitely go back. Our patio had a hammock where I could snooze and watch the hummingbirds in the...

we arrived in Puerto Viejo with no reservations, knowing there were many places to stay. We saw a woman sitting and reading outside Guarana and we asked how her stay was. She was very content and loved the fact that you could use the kitchen, enjoy free coffee and internet all day,and it was a warm safe place. The owner...
