It's a great value since the prices are low and the stay is usually comfortable. It is right in Puerto Viejo town, so you can walk everywhere (restaurants, convenience stores, pharmacy, bank, etc) or rent bikes to ride to the nicer beaches like Playa Chiquita and Punta Uva. The rooms are basic, comfortable and clean. The beds are comfortable as...

I am a business traveller who frequents five star hotels around the world. I needed a break from the world and by pure chance stumbled on Hotel Guarana. It was there in Puerto Viejo, guided by Paolo and Giovanna, that I found myself. I am sorry not to be able to live there year round. Anyway I will try to...

Myself and 2 other girls were traveling throughout Costa Rica and decided to go to Puerto Viejo. We found this cute little hostel when we got to the town. We were in Costa Rica during their rainy season, so we didn´t have to pay as much for our room. It was about 15$ per person per night. I actually really...

We got 2 rooms here (4 people each room) for a night in Talamancas. The town itself is a little rundown and didn't feel as safe as some of our other destinations, but the beaches and people were very nice. I probably wouldn't spend more than a night here, it was an "on the way" stop for us. The front...

My girlfriend and I stayed at this place in April 09 and we lacked water for three whole days. We only got water in spurs and we had to be alert when there was any in order for us to get our basic needs out of the way. They say it's a government but any entrepeneur must confront this and...

These people are complaining about something that was´nt our fault. There was a severe water shortage in all of Puerto Viejo and all of the hotels were confronted with this problem. The situacion was so grave that a lot of Puerto Viejo residents have written complaints about Costa Rica ´s most important topic , the management of the national water supply sistem...
