Great place and value. Walk to everything including cahuita national park, restaurants and playa Blanca yet secluded on several acres of beautiful garden area. Yvonne is lovely and can also arrange an awesome night tour with Chris. Fan in room but we found we needed the blanket at night. Would highly recommend. Dennis and T Dunn
When we checked in, in the evening I kept saying I hear water. Yes, we were that close to the gulf to hear the waves all night long The cottage was clean and Yvonne is the best. The communal kitchen was clean and a good place to meet other travelers. We woke up to the howler monkeys starting their day. Easy walk to downtown, the beach, and the national park. Yvonne's garden is beautiful. The flowers and butterflies were better than I saw in the national park
Great cabins nestled in a tropical garden, lush and pristine, with regular visits from the local wildlife.. Howling monkeys, frogs, birds, and the friendly house dogs. The cabins are charming and have all the comforts necessary (mosquito nets, fan, hot water, en suite bathroom), and a cosy veranda complete with hammock. Kitchen and common areas are large, clean and we'll stocked. Alby lodge is super well situated.. 5 mins from centre of Cahuita and the Cahuita National park. A mini paradise that you won't want to leave. Excellent quality/price ratio and Evonne is friendly and accomadating. Thank you again from Kevin and Agathe.
Pros - The property is very pretty with well manicured gardens. - The lodge is located very close (about 5 min walk) to Parque Nacional Cahuita. - There were a few howler monkeys in nearby trees (but not in the lodge). Cons - Bed and pillows were rather spartan. - Owner Yvonne was very hands-off and customer service. She didn't appear to care either way if I was enjoying my stay or not. - Wifi was available but so slow it really wasn't worth using. - No included food & doing: no water, coffee, snacks (or any food whatsoever). I ended up staying at another place in Puerto Viejo for exactly $18 more a night that was so much better: beach front, exceptional customer service, free breakfast, coffee, water, two welcome drinks, onsite restaurant, bike rentals, etc. Overall, I would not stay at Albs Lodge again unless I had to stay in Cahuita.…
None of the staff or guests ever wore masks even when close in proximity to others. There were no signs about COVID or hand sanitizer available. I tried to get the other guests to at least do physical distancing in the partially enclosed outdoor shared kitchen. The owner then complained that I was rude! Unbelievably rude owner who thinks she can do whatever she wants on her property despite the pandemic and COVID regulations. I shortened my stay here due to her rudeness and the risk to my health and life from others not following COVID protocols.
This was the MOST relaxing, beautifully calm, convenient, and heart-warming place. I could feel stress melting away, Unique individual cabins that open up to the sunshine. Hot water showers (!) Jungle sounds of frogs, howler monkeys, and cicadas, We saw more animals up close here than when we went hiking in Corcovado National Park - I think there is a sloth that lives in the garden! You are close to absolutely everything - the bus terminal, fresh fruit and veggie shops, the market, the National park, the beaches - and there is even a pizzeria plus an Italian bakery that is close. All this and you are still completely tucked away in lush, abundant nature. Also, the large communal kitchen is the cleanest you will ever find. And Yvonne is kind, down-to-earth, incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Her furry four-legged companions, Joey, Mimi, Prince, Gretel, and M are also welcoming and adorable! We would come here every year if we could! <3…
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and loved every second. From the short walk to the park and town/restaurants, to our thai-inspired cabin with a gorgeous deck and all of the wildlife surrounding us, we were sad to leave. The communal kitchen was easily shared by only 4 cabins and we loved meeting other travelers there. We had breakfast/lunch/dinner in town which was so close, although used the kitchen for coffee and fruit (and wifi). The room was a bit dark but comfortable, although the pillows weren't great. Nevertheless, we would stay here again to enjoy the beautiful garden, monkeys, sloths, hummingbirds, and more right from our deck.
Wonderful location in the most beautiful gardens 5 mins from beach and park entrance. Howler monkeys, toucans and hummingbirds (+many more birds) in the trees outside our cabin. Communal open eating area and kitchen fabulous. Only 4 cabins so very quiet. They have 2 double beds in but would be very crowded with 4 adults! Bed and pillows not great but the location and atmosphere was magical.
It is the best place we stayed during our four week trip through Costa Rica. We felt like in paradise garden. Very friendly and helpfull host. Clean bungalows and big kitchen with big terrasse and view in the garden. We could see monkeys and a lot of other animals from very close by. Thank you Yvonne!!! Laundry service next door.
We loved our stay in Alby lodge, the nature is omnipresent there. We were awaken every day by howling monkeys. The community kitchen is clean and useful and the cabins are clean, practical, and comfy. The garden is a big plus; there are a lot of different flowers, trees and animals who live in it. It is basically as if you had the national park right outside your door!
