This is not a fancy place. It could be easily fixed up a bit (some hooks to hang things on, for example). But the location is the draw. One can listen to the waves quietly lapping the shore, just about 20 feet away, lie in a hammock, and zone out. It was quiet when we were there. The very basic... More

I had a great time there doing nothing. Bit hammocks. Bit national park. Reading and sleeping. It was the perfect place to do that with a good price for the value. I paid 16 per night for my own room with a big bed and clean. Enjoy staying there!!!

A backpacker's paradise ! Absolutely beautiful view of the National Park, safe area with sound of crashing Caribbean waves .... hammocks ... coconut trees, tranquility and solitude. Helpful staff and close to everything in Cahuita with a little privacy from the party scene.

Spencer's was probably one of the most relaxing place we have stayed at during a our 3 months backpacking trip. Affordable, clean, best location ever (just a few meters from the water, not to swim, but beautiful to look at and if you like the sound of the waves it is perfect, and 2blocks from the national park entrence and... You can't beat the view...you are steps away from the ocean and its a 3 minute walk to the Cahuita National Park...where you will have a sandy beach, tours of the park ,or maybe try your hand at surfing! Its a 3 minute walk to town, and a 5 minute walk to the bus station! All rooms have a porch or balcony... More

Spencer's was perfect for what we wanted at the beach. Waterfront location with the glorious white noise sound of waves crashing up against the sea wall. (I see some reviews disliked that aspect, but for us it was a major plus. In addition to the soothing sound of water, it blocked any and all racket from town such as cars... More

Rooms are basic but with taste. There are great hammocks hunging next to te sea so u can relax listening to the sound of waves. Lodge is very close to the entrance to Cauhita N P, shops and bus station.

I stayed here with a group in June. It is a great value right on the waterfront. Not a beach, though: a rocky breakwater the waves crash against. I love the sound of that; you may not. Sandy beaches are a few minutes walk away. Restaurants in town are also just a few minutes walk into town. You can walk... More

This is a no-frills place that is infused with a great atmosphere. If you are looking for 5* facilities, go somewhere else, but if you want a simple good value place to sleep and hang-out, you could do much worse. It's just a few minutes walk to the village centre, right on the beach. There's no air conditioning but the... More

The write ups sounded good, so to keep costs down we booked a night. Thankfully it was only one night. We were on the ocean, but it's a rocky breakwater with waves crashing on it and we needed ear plugs to get to sleep. It's very hard to find any one working there, the communal kitchen is extremely tiny and... More
