Came by this place by accident as I was in the area. It caught my eye and we decided to try the food. Waiter recommended the freshly made pasta. Don't be in a hurry when you come though. They make everything fresh but the wait is worth it.

The hotel is only about 30 minutes from Heredia downtown, and 25 minutes from the Juan Santamaria Airport, I stayed at this hotel on my last trip to Costa Rica, I went there with my Girlfriend and we had a very lovely time. It was a little difficult to find the location of the hotel, but after we asked some...

We stayed at El Portico Hotel 2 weeks ago and we loved it! The hotel is beautiful and rustic with very kind and helpful staff. The food is very tasty, with a reasonable price, we tried their speciality; home made pasta. I've never tried any pasta this good anywhere else and the portion is hugh! The room was clean and...

My wife and I went to El Portico in December for our honey moon and it was a beautiful experience. The lady at the reception was super, super nice and the package deal for a honey moon was a great price compared to other hotels in the area. The landscape was amazing and they even had a nice hiking trail...

El Portico is in the cool mountains above Heredia with pine forrests surrounding the hotel. Beautiful natural varnished wood is the total theme. Very comfortable and cozy with panoramic views of the Central Valley. The restaurant had excellent food and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Italian owner was very nice and ran a good business. The climate...

Hotel has its own restaurant. Supose to be an Intalian Restaurant called TRES MARIAS. There is only 1 waiter for the whole restaurant that has around 15 tables. It took us 90 minutes to see the first dish. Would not recomend this place event to my worse enemy!

We stumbled on this great place while bushwacking around Costa Rica. It is located NNE of Heredia, maybe 7-10 miles, but a world apart due to location. The hotel is about 6000 feet in elevation (maybe 4000-4500 feet above the Central Valley) and has unbelievable views. You can actually watch the sun set over the Pacific. The local environment is...

I spent the last two days of my trip to Costa Rico at the El Portico. I wasn't sure if I would go to the city (San Jose) or to a more quiet place. I made the right decision with the El Portico, an mountain hotel. It was referred to me by an hotel owner/manager in Manuel Antonio. The place...
