This place offers a haven of quietness in Samara. View is nice at 360 degrés and the rooms are lovely.
But that’s not all! The real asset is Bryan, the receptionist - our should I say travel expert - offer nice advice to travel around, adresse in Samara, always with a smile :-)

It's not possible to sort out just one or two things that make this place so relaxing. The owners and the amazing staff are a huge part of it - wonderfully easygoing, always helpful, always kind, and ready with a great story or directions or information.

It is just far enough fr

Just loved the jungle feel. Quiet and inviting place to relax and enjoy the ocean view. Also like the fact that we see treetops - make you feel on top of the world. Owner and staff are very hospitable. Clean room. You will receive entertaining guests such as parrots, toucans, hum

As a local guide, here’s my 2 cents. First. NOT close to the beach. Not even close. No bar. No restaurant (besides breakfast. Yay!) anyway I tried to leave when the plumbing stopped working. Nope! It’s high season. You must stay and bathe in the pool. Use pool water to flush the

Hello Clint B, Such exciting news that you have relocated to live in Costa Rica in the 7 months since you were here, and this matter was discussed. If you have not relocated to live here, I would caution representing yourself as some “local guide”. You are a tourist who lives outside the country and came here for a trip. Not much of a guide and certainly not local. With regards to your 2 cents, allow me to address the things you have mentioned. You are correct in your keen observations that we are not close to the beach, we do not have a bar and we do not have a restaurant (aside from breakfast). What you failed to recognize, is that we make that very clear to our guests and we advertise our hotel accurately including maps of our location. You cannot honestly complain about that simply because you failed to pay attention or someone else booked for you. Either way that is on you, not us. You also misrepresent yourself again when you say you tried to leave when our water issue started. The truth is you wanted to leave as soon as you realized we had no bar which was upon your arrival. We admittedly had a catastrophic failure of a water pump. This has been explained many times to you and you act like it is a common occurrence at our hotel. The climate here can be hard on things and we do our absolute best to prevent these things from happening however, any logical person can understand that no one is immune. We could not just outright cancel your reservation as whoever booked for you used a third party. Also, your attitude with us and the other people in your group and your desire to leave happened long before our water issue. After the fact your issue became that you only wanted 2 nights but had booked 3. Again, this is not our fault that you made an error. It is regrettable that 7 months later this needs to be explained again. Perhaps now you have run out of places online to try and spread your misrepresentations. We enjoyed having the other people in your group stay with us. We hope next time you can research your reservations and find a sufficient bar and restaurant for your needs. Lodge Las Ranas

How do you poop when the plumbing isn’t working? In pool or?? Go to place that is offers working plumbing? Just curious.
Can you tell me how people get to the. Each from this hotel on the steep hill - is there a shuttle?
As the previous person answered, taxis are realitvely easy to find for about $4 one way from the hotel to the beach. We can arrange shuttles for you to airports and other towns. Rental vehicles are the most common form of transportation for most of our guests. Having a rental also allows you to explore more remote beaches of which there are many in our area.

Hi, I’m looking at booking a room at your hotel and had a few questions (check in 4/28 check out 05/02) • Do you have any rooms that come with a hammock? • Are there any ocean, jungle, or beach views from the rooms? • Is wifi included? Is there a computer available for use? • Are there bars, restaurants, and nightlife in walking distance? • Do the rooms have a balcony, terrace, patio, or private outdoor space? • What are the closest beaches and are any of them in walking distance? If not can they be accessed by a bike (and if so what is the daily cost of one - 2 people). Would a vehicle be recommended/needed to get to the beach? • Do the rooms have air conditioning? • Are there any shared amenities or are they are private? (ie private bathroom/shower, private outdoor space,…) • Is breakfast and/or lunch included?
Was just there. No on the hammock. No on 'walking distance' but that means you don't have the loud noise of town--Las Ranas is high atop a hill with stunning beach views from some rooms, all have balconies. Rooms are GORGEOUS, each with its own private bath. Yes on air con and wifi, and a basic but well prepared fruit-and-toast breakfast. Additions to 'basic' prepared to order at minimal cost. Beaches are about four miles away--taxi would be needed, but taxis are cheap. Beautiful pool area with great views.

How far is the beach?
It's a fifteen minute walk along quiet roads/tracks. Another 5 mins along the beach to the centre of Sámara. The lodge is up a very steep drive. We have just spent 6 days there and walked some of the time and used taxis (mostly at night) US $4 the rest.

"They advertise to rent a vehicle. Might I add a 4x4. Some roads are bumpy. We were in Room 6 but Room 5 I think has the best view. Grab it!"
"We loved the apartment room we stayed in. It had a kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and a great patio."
"Wonderful views, room 5 definitely has the best, rooms 9/10 are away from the pool and other activity."
"Rooms 2 and 5 have the best view"
"Las Ranas is about 1 km from Samara so very helpful to have a car. Lots of parking and just a short drive."
