I reviewed our stay last year, and the Azura continues its wonderful service. Edwin serving the pool bar was amazing and Alexa at the front desk is always on top of things. The all inclusive adults only hotel is a perfect place to begin or end your trip to Costa Rica. Since I found Azura on TravelZoo, I am not certain of their daily rate, but our cost was $1399 for four nights, including transportation to and from Liberia, and $150 credit towards an activity or a massage.

We were given a room with no ocean view, i have attached photos for reference. The manager REFUSED To accommodate us and was beyond rude. She argued with us that the room was indeed a ocean view even though we showed her our confirmation that also included photos. One of the other staff member offered a 50 massage credit but wanted us to falsely sign a NDA to not leave a review so we declined. Liquor is not premium. Very very very low quality. No gym as advertised. Restaurant menus are EXTREMELY limited. Staff is subpar. Slow getting any service. Drinks were terrible. Food was consistently cold. I wouldn’t stay here again if it was free!!

We just returned from 2 weeks at Azura Resort. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. The food was top-notch (well maybe not breakfast) and there was not a long wait. It's a little deceiving that they have 4 restaurants when they really only offer 3 physical restaurants with 4 menus. Each day you receive a Whats App message from the concierge letting you know which restaurants are available for dinner, and asking whether you want to make a reservation. Typically, Chora restaurant was reserved for families with children at the 6:30 sitting. Yes, I know, it's supposed to be an "Adults Only" resort but the restaurant is shared with families from the Villas next door for breakfast and partially at dinner. It's a little unfortunate because we generally like to have dinner at 6:30 sitting and often weren't able to eat at Chora, which has the best beachfront/sunset view, as it was reserved for families. That being said, the food was amazing. I cut my ribeye steak with a butter knife! Also, when the Tao menu was offered, the sushi was exceptional. Although there was a mix-up on our reservation when we arrived Kevin and Alexa did a great job rectifying the issue and made sure that we had a room that we liked. By the way, room 314 is a great room. It probably has the best view of the ocean and a larger balcony than the other Jr. Suite's with tub. The staff made sure our bar fridge was well-stocked and even made our anniversary extra special by decorating our room and providing some special treats. As many other reviews have mentioned, there isn't much of an after-dinner social scene. It would be nice if they had a dedicated bar area where you could go for a post-dinner drink or two to wrap up your evening. The beach was really nice. It's a bit more rugged than some of the manicured beaches you'll find in many caribbean resorts, but that's what you expect in Costa Rica. We were there in July so it's the rainy season, which means the water will be a bit murky. There was a ride tide warning issued during our stay but the hotel staff didn't really have much to say about it. It seems that's an issue that's happening more frequently in the area. As mentioned before, the staff were great. As with many places these days it's clear that they are short-staffed. The team works hard and they put in long hours! They made us feel very welcome, were attentive, and went out of their way to provide good service. The transfer back to the Liberia airport wasn't a great experience. The two-hour trip in a van with no air conditioning and no seat belts wasn't exactly what we expected. It's clear that the resort has a few finishing touches to make to call itself a 4.5-5 star resort, but they're off to a good start. We would return to Azura and would recommend it to friends.

Our trip started with a flight delay but the first day ended perfectly! Kevin got us checked in, to our rooms and provided a tour of the property and got reservations for dinner. Since my hubby had a recent birthday(2 days ago) Kevin arranged for a small surprise at dinner- it was perfect! We had the best servers Edwin poolside bar and he makes the best PuraVida drink and a mean Ginger Ale! Sebastian worked dinner in Choras and room service- we discussed the soccer championships and of course Maylena(maybe spelling it wrong but we are in the picture) served us breakfast and lunch and had us try the chili water😜! She served us beachside as well and really made us feel like valued guests! The view from our 3rd floor was breathtaking and the staff was extremely friendly! Food options were plenty and I really enjoyed the local breakfast! Our stay seem to fly by but we had a great relaxing time and mingled with other couples as well! We recommend this property for the friendly staff and nice accommodations! Ask for Edwin, Kevin and Maylena- they are truly here to serve!

This trip was a great way to celebrate my 33rd birthday. The resort was cozy and intimate. I believe they have roughly 75 rooms. It’s very much a boutique type of resort. The staff was amazing! They were all very friendly, welcoming and beyond helpful. Alexa greater us upon arrival and ensured we all of the info we needed in regards to the location of the restraints and possible off resort activities. Luna assisted us in booking our excursion which was very fun. I would recommend calling the resort to ensure there are enough people booking the same excursion prior to completing payment. There is a minimum person requirement with certain excursions. The jungle adrenaline excursion was great! I would recommend this! The staff communicated via what’s app and was always readily available. Alexa was a blessing because I currently am a nursing mama and she ensured that my expressed milk was taken care of and stored to freeze during my entire trip. The rooms each have chillers, however, the main freezer are cooler and are able to store more. The food was great! We enjoyed each restaurant and the breakfast and was not disappointed. Ruben who we mainly saw as the bartender was very much full of life and a pleasant person to speak with. The staff were very sweet. They also made great suggestions on places to visit off the resort in samara. Alexa recommend a restaurant that was about 15 min away which we caught a cab to. They played music and it was on the beach. The food here was great and it was a relaxing environment. If you are looking to unwind and relax this is your resort! We had a swim out pool with double beds. The view was great and although the weather wasn’t amazing everyday we still enjoyed each moment. I would definitely recommend this resort. Oh and Alexa as decorated our room for my birthday and gave us some treats!

We went to Azura Beach resort May 30 to June 6, 2022 to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful week! We had a spacious and very comfortable ocean view king room, which had a beautiful large balcony (with tub) and provided us with a great view of the property, looking across the two swimming pools and to the ocean itself. It was cleaned and the refrigerator restocked daily. Each room is equipped with its own water filtration/ sterilizer dispenser, so drinkable water (hot and cold) is available all of the time without the need for plastic bottles. This environmentally conscious & responsible approach extended to the bars and restaurants, where only reusable (no single use plastic!!!) cups were in use! We enjoyed every meal we had and the menu varieties were very extensive! We dined at the Chill & Grill, Italian and Japanese restaurants and service/ kitchen staff never hesitated to accommodate special requests we had to "fine tune" our meals, whether at breakfast, lunch or dinner. Our favourite entrees were the "catch of the day" fish, which included snapper, mahi mahi and tuna prepared and cooked in various delicious ways. Fish tacos, made with corvina (sea bass) were amazing too! It was so nice dining in a covered outdoor fresh air environment with an ocean view! Service at the restaurants (special thanks to Christopher, Lorena and Ruben) was always first rate, as was that of the pool and main bars (thanks Brainer and Valeria!). We apologize for not remembering the name of the afternoon/evening bartender at Chill & Grill, but he made amazing martinis for us and others before each dinner! The grounds and amenities of this 75 room gem of a resort were impeccably maintained and always clean. The staff and management were very polite, friendly and helpful from start to finish! We met the owner, Louis, on a couple of occasions during the week. He was sincere in making sure that we were happy with our stay, introduced us to his son Philippe, the manager and even stopped in the lobby to wish us a good return home when we were departing. Walking from your room to the beach can be done in just a couple of minutes. We enjoyed swimming and body surfing in the ocean and just going for walks. The town of Sámara is a pleasant 20 minute walk down the beach from the resort. You can also take a taxi for 8 to 10 USD. In Sámara are grocery stores, pharmacies, a medical clinic, food market, bars, restaurants, microbrewery, tour operators, rental agencies, craft shops and more. We were there several times during our stay and always felt safe. Not once were we approached by any vendors or beggars on the streets. We are very experienced travelers, having stayed at many dozens of tropical destination resorts elsewhere in Costa Rica, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Panama and Nicaragua. We feel that our stay at Azura was the most relaxing ever! The resort was amazing and we met a lot of wonderful people! If you are looking for a loud party atmosphere, lots of staff-guided physical/recreational activities or evening entertainment, Azura is not for you. If you are looking to enjoy blissful tranquility at a beautiful beach location with breathtaking natural surroundings, then you have found the right place! Pura vida! We are definitely planning to return!!! Tom and Lianne

My wife and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary at Azura Resort and were completely blown away. From the second we arrived on the premises to the our last Costa Rican breakfast before making our way back to the airport, the staff went over and beyond to accommodate our needs. For our anniversary day, we had a romantic beach dinner scheduled. Little did we know during our planning, this is the rainiest season in Costa Rica. The staff offered to set up our dinner in one of the indoor settings and we accepted. Although we were a little disappointed about the weather, we agreed to make the best of it. To our surprise, it did not rain that evening and the staff laid out an amazing setting on the beach with live music. They even set up an indoor table as a contingency plan in case it did rain. Lucky for us , it didn’t and we were able to enjoy our romantic beach dinner. The food was amazing! The seafood was fresh! The steaks were perfectly cooked! The drinks kept coming! I can go on and on about our experience. We would just like to thank Azura for making our 1st anniversary one to remember for a lifetime. Thank you Luna, Briner (Tropical Sunset lol), Alexa, Daniela, Edwin, and anyone else we forgot to name! Reggie and Robyn

I paid for a 5 star hotel and is not what I received. Cons: - Hotel does no have a sign so I got lost for a while trying to find the place. - The guy in the front desk didnt know much information, I even asked basic questions and he wasnt awared. -Liquor is NOT PREMIUM as they state at their website, it is a VERY LOW quality. - Coctels are low quality, they use a mixed already prepared and they dont taste good. -When you are at the commom areas they rarely come to you and ask if you need anything and when they do it sometimes they forget you asked for something so they never deliver it. -If you ask for a certain drink they tell you they cant give it to you because "it is in the back" -They put some drinks in your room however they are really low cost beers. - Staff look like they are lack of training, they forget or mix up orders, they dont look secure on what they are doing. -Very Few Staff available. - Only 1 of 4 restaurant was opened so no much choice. - Menu on the restaurant was VERY SMALL, couple of times I asked for something in the menu and they told they didnt have it and recomended the "Dish of the day". -Hotel seems that need some infraestructure maintenance. Pros: -There was a girl part of the staff named Melania which provided us with really good customer service. - Whatspp service is good. - Room Service was nice. Seems that some time ago this was a very good hotel however is not what it is right now, if they want to continue working like this they should low their prices I could have gotten much better service in another hotel with the same money.

We had a wonderful time here - we did read reviews prior and I am amazed at how random they are - some are so far off the truth. We took private transfer from the airport so we would not be in a big line up at the front desk. Greeted by pleasant front desk staff and given a nice refreshing frozen drink - once in our room we received a bottle of champagne and a little snack. Our room was very clean and spacious, cleaned once, but not a big deal for us - little issue with our wrist keys one day but quickly taken care of. Food was amazing every time ! Breakfast was limited, but you can just ask for toast and fruit and you will get it, does not have to be a full thing everyday. Only one day we were not served, no one paid attention to us, so we left. Edwin and Wismer were excellent staff and bar keeps - we were sorry to hear that Wismer was let go while we were there, however do understand the circumstances and don't blame management at all. All staff very hard working and work long days. I highly recommend this property, I have been telling everyone that asks where we stayed and let them know if you want a beautiful place to relax, recharge, enjoy long walks on the beach, dip your toes in the water of travelling again, this is the place !
