We chose this place because it was an exchange with our time share. After booking I saw many reviews about this location catering more to locals. That is very true! We arrived at around 3pm to check in. I was with my elderly parents (80 yrs old, my dad has a cane). We realized as we got there that it is a 45 degree angle road to get down to our room. It was hot & sunny outside. They explained that there is a little shuttle every 15 min to take you down & up to get around the property. I thought maybe someone would help us with our luggage but I was definitely wrong there. We carried our luggage over to the shuttle stop & proceeded to stand in the heat for 45 min because every time a shuttle came there wasn’t enough room & the locals would jump on. I started carrying as much as I could down to our room but after 2 trips I was exhausted. Finally, by that time someone had taken pity on us as my mother was about to pass out & made room on the shuttle. My mom had heat stroke & wasnt able to get out of bed until 3pm the next day. Luckily we did not do all inclusive & I felt sorry for those who did because the food was a buffet & it was the same food every meal, every day. This was by far the worst place I have stayed at.

Beautiful location on Playa Hermosa with the most amazing sunsets. Room was comfortable and kept immaculate by daily maid service. We had a wonderful stay. We did not do the all inclusive and enjoyed trying many different restaurants nearby and in Playa Coco.

Condovac La Costa had some good features, but left much to be desired. It was hard to tell what was available from the provided information and photos. Here are some questions I had before going and the answers I found: 1. Is there beach access - Yes, one end of the property is the pool and restaurant, while the other end is the beach. There is a tram between the two that stops at each row of hotel rooms, if needed. The beach has free lounge chairs and kayak/paddle board use (if a lifeguard is available), but there is no food, drink, or towel availability at this end of the property. There is a gift shop that sells drinks, snacks, and souvenirs by the beach. There were structures that looked like a restaurant and beverage stand, but they were not open. (They could be open on the weekends?) 2. Is the food included - Yes. There is buffet service for all meals. A breakfast there is a made to order omelet stand, but overall there are very limited choices, especially for kids. There were snacks during most of the day (chips, salsa, hot dogs, fries). The chips and salsa were excellent, but the other food was dried out and pretty awful nearly all the time. Lunch and dinner had a few excellent tasting authentic and well made dishes, but was still pretty limited in terms of variety (the Americanized food was all pretty bad). There are supposedly other restaurants. The only one open was the Italian restaurant and we had to arrive at 9am to book a coveted reservation. It was super creepy. The food was ok, but again limited. There was virtually no ability to address food allergies other than just sticking to the limited food that was naturally free of whatever allergen the person needed to avoid. Overall, we were there for 3 days and, except for my husband, we were all yearning for better and different food. 3. Drinks are included, unlimited, and they were good. Other notable things: - On check out day, they give you a new wristband and you are a second class citizen and can only eat lunch in the weird room that is the Italian restaurant at night. We had friends staying a day longer than us and we were not allowed to join them for lunch. - The rooms are dated, but fine. The family sized room had a king bed room and the front room had two full beds. My kids were happy. The bathroom was not nice, but the water was hot (unlike other reviews reported) and had excessive water pressure. - The bumper cars and ferris wheel were a HUGE hit for my kids! That pretty much made up for everything else for them, besides the food. - The hot tub was cold. My son checked every day and was super disappointed. - The road between the pool area and the beach where all the hotel rooms are located is insanely steep and has huge concrete ditches on either side. If you fall you just keep sliding/rolling down. Elderly guests should always take the tram.

We stayed for a week at Condovac La Costa and had a wonderful stay!! We had read some less than favorable reviews, but were totally taken care of. The views of Guanacaste and Playa Hermosa were incredible. The infinity pool overlooking the Pacific Ocean was magical during the day, sunset and at night. The water temperature was wonderful and the stuffed churros with dulce de leche will be what I remember for years. It was our first trip to Costa Rica and we loved it. We had 4 excursions planned and then 2 full days at the resort. We played cards with our friends, swam and relaxed. The Pina Colada’s (without alcohol) were wonderful and the food was good (we ate at the three specialty restaurants with no problem getting reservations). Colibrí was the best meal of the three. I actually preferred the main dining room. They accommodated us leaving early for excursions and last minute made us lunch to take with fruit, delish sandwiches and bananas. Memu, Fernanda and Luis and the staff were wonderful!! Viviana and Ferdinand took care of us at the main desk and addressed a few issues we did have. We were three couples and 2 of us spent an extra night, so we did need to change rooms. We did have 1/3 romantic suites without hot water, and 1/3 had an issue with a/c, but it was fixed. It was warm enough that the lack of hot water was not horrific for our friends. They offered another room, but we wanted to stay together, so they suffered through some showers. Breakfast was wonderful with an omelette station, bread, yogurt, cereal, fried plantain bananas (delish) and other fresh fruit, fried potatoes and pancakes and French Toast. Lunch always had shredded chicken and beef for nachos or tacos and hamburgers, quesadillas and hot dogs. Ice Cream was from 1-5 pm and Churro cart with popcorn and cotton candy from 5:30 or 6 to 9. The fitness room looked fine, but we did walk the impressive hill a few times a day. The hill is very steep, so this would be an issue if you had any mobility issues. We found the resort transportation to come every 10-15 minutes the whole week we were at Condovac. We could take the transport down to the beach Playa Hermosa and it had access to bathrooms and showers. The restaurant (La Casita Del Marisco) was really good and we did go to Mar Azul in Playa Coco and it was double the price and not as good. We attended a couple of the shows and the live music was great and the mechanical bull was entertaining. 2/6 of us did speak Spanish, but you would be okay if you did not speak Spanish. The comedian was more cultural and we didn’t understand the nuances of the singers and folks he was sharing. There was a carnival theme with rides, but we didn’t ride any. Thank you, Condovac!! 6 friends from Utah🏔️

Visited during Valentine’s week. Honestly if you like anything that is somewhat nice this is not the place for you . Second time in Costs Rica and we previously stayed at Secrets which is extremely nice. With such mixed reviews we thought we’d give it a shot. So I really hate giving bad reviews but hoping this helps someone decide how to experience this hotel. Pros: 1. Beautiful location 2. Fabulous price (but you pay for what you get) 3. Tour company options on-site 4. Free ride when you arrive 5. Lots of wildlife and easy access to Playa Hermoso with lots of chairs for hotel guests. Cons: 1. Extremely outdated rooms and hotel .. our room looked like something from the early 80’s at best … no coffee or stocked fridges … staff said to drink out of the faucets. 2. “Specialty” dinners you have to wait in line before 9am to put your name on a list, then wait for a call, for us it never came, just to get a reservation 3. Specialty dining locations are extremely unpleasant, no decorations or anything that makes it feel like a unique experience just feels like the typical buffet option. 4. Daily food options are exactly the same they just add the leftover dinner meats to the breakfast buffet, extremely limited options. 5. Staff were so unhappy and so hard to engage even when speaking Spanish 6. Only bar is the main dining area, doesn’t open until after 10am, has maybe 5 liquor options and all well, no options at all. No common mixers either and everything is room temperature. 7. Transportation around the resort is horrendous … constantly waiting 15 - 20 minutes for a tram to come around, which was typically full, and praying for another to come that has a spot open really became exhausting. 8. Have to pay for airport return.

Staff has an awful service and treatment to the guest, specially those in charge of security in the parking area. Dinner on Sunday was beyond salty and the French fries were old and stiff. Today at check out they said lunch (which was included in the rate was) had been moved to a different area, turned out it was only those guests that had made the check out the ones eating there, the beans where hard needed more cooking time, also the glasses where terrible they seamed to be made out from bottles that where cut in half but with a bad finish. It would be better not to include lunch at check out than to divide the guests, it honestly felt like it was charity.

ndovac is located about a half hour from the Liberia airport, on Playa Hermosa. We stayed 5 days. PROS: *We had a romantic room. It had a beautiful view we enjoyed. *Our room was clean and Giselle did a great job keeping it that way. *View from the hilltop restaurant and pools was beautiful. *The food was excellent.  The buffet was similar everyday, they always had a few different items. We enjoyed Roman's service. *The staff were all very friendly. *There are shuttles to bring you down to the beach or up to the restaurant. There we plenty and did not have to wait long, unless at high traffic times like sunset. CONS: *With the romantic room we had a better grade of alcohol available.  Unfortunately it was at the beach bar and usually out of stock and extremely limited. *The beach bar is not really on the beach, actually up the hill by the beach, not inviting and the drinks were not good, except the Pina colata *The show was only in Spanish *This hotel is geared toward locals *There are 3 a la cart restaurants, but making reservations and getting a menu was challenging at first. *There are not enough chairs by the pools or beach. Would we return? Probably not

Condovac La Costa is not an aesthetically unpleasing location at all; in fact, it boasts a commendable structural design. The rooms, from a structural perspective, are decent, and each villa room is equipped with excellent air conditioning. However, there are certain aspects that could be improved. Unfortunately, there is a lack of coherence in the knowledge of the staff regarding their own policies. For example, the stickers in most villas providing a contact number for room service are nonfunctional, and this information is not communicated to guests. It is advisable to bring your own water, despite the claim that the provided water is clean. Doubt may arise about its quality, and there is a potential risk of digestive issues. Proceed with caution. The primary issues with Condovac are centered around the subpar and disinterested customer service experienced at the front desk and during meals at the buffet. Firstly, a significant portion of the front desk personnel lacks friendliness. Their demeanor often suggests a sense of burden, as if someone is owed a favor, creating a less than welcoming atmosphere. The buffet, despite potentially appearing impressive to tourists, falls short in terms of quality. In my opinion, and likely shared by many, the offerings are bland, tasteless, and poorly maintained. Breakfast includes stale and hard bread buns, and the orange juice does not seem natural. The restaurant layout gives the impression of being assembled from salvaged components. The transport personnel exhibit unfriendly behavior, often displaying a disgruntled attitude without clear reasons. Despite this, it is advised to stand your ground and not accept mistreatment. In summary, Condovac La Costa receives a rating of 5 out of 10 for its hotel staff. I would not recommend this location to tourists unless seeking budget-friendly options and prepared to endure less than favorable treatment.

Upon check-in it's all about money straight away - their main concern. No warmth and excitement, which you expect in a holiday resort. No wifi in rooms - which they clearly haven't had for a long time, as I can see from previous reviews - I was given no explanation or solution and couldn't work from my room. I asked about the Christmas meal and Victor, the assistant manager said that they didn't do anything specific (despite messages I have to the contrary, saying that they did) and that I would need to come to reception at 8.30am - to queue and get reservation for one of the 3 restaurants - just what you want to do on vacation. Hand over around $1400 for 3 nights and set an alarm to get a dinner reservation. Where is the sense in this? Why not allow guests to reserve a table upon check-in or between 11-12? Just another inconvenience, that makes you feel as though you're of no importance to them. The 2 bed / one bedroom apartments are hostel- like in their appearance and vibe - I felt as though I had stepped back in time, to the 1940's. Double beds are tiny - I don't carry a tape measure, but am pretty sure they're large singles. Sleeping with my 6'6" husband wasn't easy and it was extremely hot as the air-con kept breaking and leaking on and off, we had to have the maintenance people out a few times. When I told reception, I was told I should inform Booking.com! My daughter has an auto immune illness, so I had to set her up on the horrible excuse for a sofa bed as I was concerned about her over heating and inhaling AC coolant. My son was extremely uncomfortable and due to sensory issues that come with autism, he struggled with sleep (temp changes/noises/ which in turn affect us all. Broken sleep, subpar food, rude staff and a horrible sense of regret was all consuming and an extremely depressing end to our holiday. Very steep hill to get to the main part of hotel. I sometimes use a walking aid due to a spinal illness. I wasn't told about this. Staff are indifferent and rude - they don't care about your stay or make the children feel excited or included. One young, male member of staff laughed at me whilst I was crying in despair about the accommodation and the other issues/complaints. The food is repetitive and has hardly any taste. They reheat yesterday's food. The staff are rude, they don't smile and act as though you're an annoyance, even when my children were getting an ice cream or something from the candy floss stand, I saw their blank/indifferent expressions - it made my children uncomfortable to go back to them One staff member - Lewis, the barman, was absolutely brilliant and they don't deserve him! There's no pool table, as advertised. No customer care. They did nothing special for Xmas day. No entertainment. This place's saving grace is its view. The pools are nice. Upon check-out, the scissors were straight out to remove my all inclusive wrist band - no question as to whether I enjoyed my stay or a gesture to say we could stay and have some lunch whilst waiting for our transport to the airport. I had asked a driver we'd had the previous day, what the cost would be for airport transfer - apparently he'd been in reception for an hour waiting for us just before we left our room - as I didn't have wifi in my room, he couldn't get hold of me. Why didn't reception call the phone in my room or come and tell me?! So rude and incompetent. I then had to get the tour organizer, Javier, to get a taxi for me - we waited an hour and paid $60 - despite being told there was a free airport transfer in our booking details So much false advertising - no pool table, no transfer, no wifi, no smart tv, no Christmas meal or celebrations. Despite the 35* degree heat, the atmosphere was subzero.

We stayed at Condovac for a week at the beginning of December via RCI swap. It is a timeshare that is geared towards Costa Rican families with kids. What we liked about it was that we enjoyed being in a place where we felt immersed in the culture. The employees were friendly and we enjoyed practicing our Spanish. The views are beautiful and the beach is great for walking and swimming but overall the resort needs to be updated its 40 years old and it shows. Food: We did not opt for the all inclusive but did look at what was offered daily and it was typical Costa Rican fare with rice and beans a protein, plantains and vegetables. We did eat breakfast and it was fine, they had an omelet station and fresh fruit as well as some buffet items such as french toast. Room: We actually moved from the first room we got, it was run down, missing the cook top, and the safe didn't work. The second room they moved us to was clean and everything worked but it's due for a redo and looked dated and worn. There was no wifi in any of the rooms. They appeared to be replacing the hot water tanks for all of the rooms so that's not an issue anymore . The beach is beautiful and we enjoyed walking and snorkeling we brought our own equipment. They don't have many chairs, we actually bought a blanket and would find a tree for shade. After a few days we realized that chairs always opened up after lunch. We always felt safe but carried a drybag with our valuables and never left that unattended. The security guard was actually one of our favorite employees and was very friendly. Overall, we're torn. I rated it average because the setting is great but the resort alone would be rated poor. We really liked the nature and culture of the place but the rooms are rough and we would not do the all inclusive food as it was basic. The restaurants down the beach from the resort offered some great dining options. Costa Rica is so beautiful and adventurous we will return just not sure if it will be this particular resort we'll have to see if they are able to update it.
