I am currently staying in playa grande and have been for 2 months. It's an awesome place with a wonderful community. If you haven't already found a place to stay I would strongly recommend the apartment I have. i cant post a link on trip advisor but if you google Megan's properties Costa Rica, you should be able to find a wordpress site. Contact Megan and ask her for francisco's place.
It is a small house with a basic kitchen and a pool within walking distance to the beach. I pay $550/month
As far as the turtles go, I'm pretty sure that it is $25/night. You may be able to find a local guide that will work with you but BE CAREFUL. There are a lot of people on the beach that know where the turtles are and will tell you they can take you, but they are not licensed and threaten the habitats. I haven't been myself as it's not the season right now, but I do know of a reputable/licensed local guide that can take you. If you are interested I can get his direct number for you today.
