We stayed here because we wanted to visit NP Rincon de la Vieja and this place is accessible by public transport. The owner is really friendly and provides a lot of information and advice. We stayed in a tent house and really liked it! You feel like you are camping (sleeping outside) but don't need to bring camping gear. The...

A wonderful, off-the-beaten-path place that's worth spending a few days at. We used El Sol Verde as a base for exploring the Rincon de la Vieja NP, but it was very relaxing just to hang around the covered eating area, chat with the other guests and with Gerard, the friendly and helpful host. There are all kinds of birds to...

Gerrard was the perfect host -welcoming, helpful and a genuinely great guy. We stayed in one of the two camping huts with all necessary facilities to hand. Quiet, peaceful and attractive grounds. Gerard makes a great breakfast and a good packed lunch (both additional costs). Good soda/small restaurant in walking distance, national park a hitch/shuttle away. We so enjoyed our...

We spent two nights at El Sol Verde and loved it. We got the spacious room for 4 that was super clean and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful. It's a short drive to the national park on mostly paved roads from here. Gerard was a wonderful host. Very friendly and helpful. We sure hope to back and stay here again...

Incredible value for money. Extremely clean, quiet, and safe. Owner very helpful. Groceries or restaurants within walking distance. Accessible via public transportation (3 buses a day). 15 minutes from the airport by car. Have to take a shuttle to get to to Rincon de la Vieja (5$ per person one way) or you can hitchhike.

We stayed here a night after visiting the National Park with our 1-year old son. Gerard, the owner, is a very hospitable and calm man who has the ability to let you feel at home and share some great tips about the area. Nice bed, hot shower, beautiful garden, sweet little village. For a little family like ours, a great...

El Sol Verde is a convenient location to the park and close to pulperias for snacks and food. There are open spaces to set up your own tents, small wood and canvas tents, and cabinas to rent. There are showers, bathrooms, and kitchen sinks for cleaning up and preparing food.

This was the first stop my boyfriend and I made on our 2 week trip traveling around Costa Rica. And it actually wound up being my favorite place, even after going to the fancier hotels in the mountains, the tourist traps at the beach, the hippie beaches of Montezuma, and the more densely populated cities. I loved all those places,...

This campsite is situated in well manacured grounds with an abundance of wildlife including a resident Iguana who lives in a tree near the dining area. We brought our own tents and camped here although there are "tent houses" and chalets available. The facilities are great with showers and toilets in close proximity to the camping area. There's also a...
