We had a wonderful stay at the Lost Iguana Resort. We came in September so it wasn't too busy but everyone on the staff was great. They set up multiple tours and activities for us. The resort is just down the road from the Mistico Hanging Bridges. Our room was very nice with an incredible view of Arenal Volcano. When we make it back to the Arenal La Fortuna area we stay Lost Iguana again.
Beautiful hotel in the forest. There are nice pools. One is heated pool (not naturally but still nice). Great breakfast and nice dinner. The only thing to take into account is that it’s ~25 min drive from La Fortuna so need to plan drive time to dinner and any other activity.
On top of being a beautiful property, the staff are world class. I had an issue with the headlight on my rental car. The rental agency wouldn't help. I asked the staff for a recommendation. Instead, they took the part into town, found a replacement, and installed it for me!! I've never had that level of service anywhere. They saved my vacation!!
Beautiful property and the rooms were impressive. Had a lovely casita at the top of the hill with amazing view of the volcano. Bring your tennis shoes- walking up and down the hills at this hotel are a workout! Our issue was the food- it was definitely the worst food we had on our trip to Costa Rica. Breakfast buffet was decent but lunch and dinner options were terrible. The property isn’t located close to other amenities so it’s tough to leave for dinner or a quick lunch. Plan to have your meals elsewhere on the way to/from the hotel. Kids and parents agreed the food was inedible. Sad because the rest of the property was so nice.
Beautiful, very well kept hotel overlooking Arenal volcano. The property and rooms are very clean & well kept. The staff are very accommodating and helpful. There is a warm swim-up pool bar. The pool was often crowded. Amazing lush foliage
We had a wonderful time at Lost Iguana! The staff was great and the property was gorgeous! The pools were fun and the food was delicious! The rooms were big and clean and the views of the volcano were spectacular!
My family absolutely loved our time at Lost Iguana. The view from our balcony was spectacular. Every morning we would be entertained by all the birds flying by. We loved the feeling of walking through the jungle on our way to breakfast or dinner. As it was the rainy season, we ended up eating dinner there the entire time. We did appreciate the umbrellas provided for the walk. Dinner was always amazing. All the servers were just absolutely lovely. We didn't want to leave.
It's a beautiful property surrounded by the jungle. The rooms are rustic but comfortable. My room was on the first floor and faced the volcano, which provided dramatic views. I would like to talk about the service for a moment: My flight to Costa Rica was cancelled at the last minutes and I was not able to arrive to the hotel until a day later than I had planned. I contacted the resort and explained the situation. I did not expect them to do anything, I just didn't want them to give my room away. Although they were under no obligation to provide anything, they kindly gave me credit for hotel services while I was there (they could not provide a refund). It was very generous of them.
The view from the room and balcony was spectacular. It was the best view of the volcano we saw anywhere in the area. The grounds were beautiful and really made you feel tucked away in the rainforest. We saw toucans in the trees on our walk from breakfast. Nature trails were also wonderful. Breakfast was delicious. The only negative was that the large doors opening to the balcony did not have screens, and we were advised not to keep them open while we slept because of all the wildlife, so there was no way to sleep hearing all the nature sounds and feeling fresh air. The outdoor temperature at night was perfect and the sounds of the rainforest were amazing, so we would have greatly preferred fresh air to the air conditioning, but we did not have the option due to lack of screens.
We truly felt we were in the wilderness. We had a magnificent view of the volcano as well as the rainforest from our spacious habitacion #31. Sitting on our covered porch we saw and heard many birds. It was a wilderness delight. We enjoyed the food and friendly wait staff and appreciated the close proximity to the hanging bridges, zip lining and Tabacon which we loved.
