We were here with a birding group over the New Year's holiday. The visit was perfect in every way. The lodge and grounds are gorgeous. The food is wonderful. Our room on the second floor was huge and had French doors opening onto the "hummingbird balcony" where, early each morning, coffee arrives. The hosts could not be nicer or more...

Birding friends suggested we go to Rancho Naturalista, and were we glad we did! Awesome birds, good food, helpful staff, and in a beautiful part of a beautiful country. Worth the visit for the hummingbirds alone! Our guide Cali was also recommended by our friends, and he was great, as he is a local and truly a gifted birder.

We stayed at Rancho from Jan 29 thru Jan 2. This was our second visit to Rancho, and this visit was every bit as magical as the first. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the family-style meals were delicious, and every conversation with staff and other guests was interesting. There was a lot to enjoy. As far as the birding...

My first visit to Rancho only lasted 36 hours, but it was a wonderful experience in so many ways. The ambiance, family-style living, and human interaction was heartwarming with the other guests as well as the staff / guides. As hoped, the birds were abundant and quite viewable. Night-birding with the moth light and the pond-bathing hummingbirds were especially interesting....

You will constantly be finding new birds just on the lodge property, plus a guide will take you to many great places nearby with equally good birding. Guide Harry was excellent and very knowledgeable! PLUS your very reasonable rent includes three gourmet meals every day! It is worth going to just for the food! :-) But glad I got about...

When we pulled into the Rancho Naturalista, I thought we had arrived in paradise! The property itself is beautiful, and the view breathtaking. From the moment we got out of the car, we saw birds and birds and birds. There are numerous feeding stations set up with fruit that offer the photographer outstanding opportunities to get some perfect pictures. Hummingbird...

We had been wanting to go to Rancho Naturalista to see the snowcap hummingbird for a while. It was very much worth the visit in many other ways.
