Tucked away in the foothills of the mountains, this gem of a place offers a unique experience for naturalists. The birding is fantastic as are the trips you can take off resort. The resort itself is excellent, the service is top notch and the food is incredible. Lisa and Mario strive to make the experience as good as it can...

It is wonderful that you stayed for 2 weeks at Rancho Naturalista and with all the things that there are to do in our local area and just around the lodge. It certainly dosen't get boring. Rancho is your home away from home in Costa Rica and you are always welcome! We thank you for the nice review!

We are first time birders, but had read so many great things about Rancho Naturalista that we decided to " learn the ropes" here. We had the beautiful, convenient and spacious Room #1 on the second floor of the lodge. It was great to roll out of bed at 5:30 AM and be right next door to the porch where...

Our stay at Rancho Naturalista was one of the highlights of our stay in Costa Rica. Rancho is a famous birding-themed lodge, and this in particular influenced us in choosing to stay there. Sometimes when you stay at a place that's renowned for its wildlife, the accommodation is average but you accept this because the wildlife makes up for it...

We visited Rancho as a result of previous reviews stating it was a great place to see birds and other wildlife. We were self driving with a SatNav but relied on the car hire co to set the coordinates. In short we got completely lost and it took a while longer to find Rancho than we had bargained for. The...

Thank you for the excellent review! Sorry that you had trouble finding the lodge but great news that you were happy about everything else once you arrived. You are right that Rancho Naturalista is really the place to be for birdwatchers. Thank you for your compliments on the room and the staff. We were wondering did you spot the Antpitta?

After the disappointment of our first stopover I was expecting the worst, how wrong I was. As we ground to the end of the mountain track we were met with the welcoming sight of Rancho Naturalista. From the moment of our arrival until the day we left we were surrounded by kindness, good natured (if slightly intense "twitchers") and a...

We received a warm welcome from Lisa and Marco the present owners of the converted farm house. Our room was spacious, clean and had many facilities. Thank you for your wonderful review of our Lodge! We are happy that you enjoyed your stay at Rancho Naturalista in the middle of the tropical rain forest. Family owned and operated, Rancho Naturalista is tops in our book! For this visit we were put in Room 2, Cotinga (they all carry birds' names) which opened onto the observation deck.
