Altura Hotel is a very charming place near Poas. The decor is a mixture of country rustic and borderline modern. The building where 4 units are located in, has a modern feel to it and the paintings were definitely more modern. We had room #4 upper floor, view is stunning in the morning! Our friends had the suite (separate from...

We enjoyed our stay at Altura Hotel which is a little farm with some cows, donkeys and three dogs. Neighboring are more cows which were driven to the pasture each day. The area offers nice views down onto the San Jose area and you can watch the stars in the evening. Also, it is fun to play with the dogs...

We arrived and felt the life re-enter our bodies. A luxurious hotel in a rural environment. Beautiful views from our room. Very comfortable and clean. This is where we first experienced a Costa Rican breakfast and it was the best of our week long trip. The cheese, a staple of our entire trip, was made in the barn steps away....

If you love great views, animals, and style even though you even like to rough it this is a must. There is no roughing it here but if you like that style this place is heaven for you. The rooms are gorgeous. Waking up and looking down on the valley is breathtaking. Greeting the donkeys.. watching the cow being milked...

So far this is my kids favorite hotel in CR. The owner was very friendly, was nice enough to drive them to Poas volcano when they could not get a taxi cab, the breakfast is the best and the suite spacious and very comfortable. What I want to mention is the owner, who did not have to do so, allowed...

We had a wonderful time. Wish we would have known it's a bit of a dirt/ rocky/ bumpy road to get to the hotel, but otherwise was amazing. We watched the cows and the horses and donkeys. Our room was beautiful and spacious. It was a bit windy at night, but that's to be expected. Be prepared that earthquakes are...

Coming from pretty rustic lodging before reaching Poasito, Altura Hotel looked grand and plush and incredible. We stayed in a bottom floor room in the main building, and it was almost a suite - there was a kitchen area, a couch / TV / desk area, and the bedroom area, all open to each other. The bed was very comfortable,...

Our room was at the top of the two-story structure and the wind howled all night long. The owner/manager was very nice, thoughtful, and friendly. Breakfast was good. This is a dairy farm so they make their own cheese. We would have enjoyed staying two nights here. Poas Volcano was too cloudy to see the day we had free, so...
