The hotel has great bungalows with great views on the volcano. Breakfast was fine, the breakfast room has a great view on the volcano too. It seems that a lot of hotels around the area have hot spring pools which is a shame not to have one. The pool itself was nice though.
you can clearly see the volcano from almost anywhere in the hotel. They offer cute little rooms that are clean. We went a family with a 10 yr old and thoroughly enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The guest services are very friendly. The restaurant is a nice convenience and the breakfast thats included which was amazing! We will definitely stay again when we are in the area. Very close to hot springs, restaurants and Mistico hanging bridges, horseback riding, etc.
The hotel staff were rude and very unhelpful. Wifi connection was terrible. Rooms haven’t seen any attention in a good few years and are run down. Attention to detail is lacking. We generally found the people of Costa Rica very friendly and helpful but the staff here must hate their jobs as they always seemed annoyed when you approached them and didn’t seem to care about anything you said. We also found to strange that breakfast was a buffet but you weren’t allowed to serve yourself. I’m guessing to save on waste? But this meant getting given one piece of melon (for example) and having to say “more please” several times - I tried saying 3 or 4 melon pieces please… did not help. Very frustrating having to wait to be served and then saying more over and over (I’m not even that big of an eater). Location isn’t great unless you have a car as it’s 10-15 minutes drive from town, not walking distance to anything. I’d just suggest staying elsewhere. Be better volcano inn.…
Pros: - The location of this place is great (but you must have a car) - The room is very big, clean and with great view - Comfy beds Cons: - no wifi in rooms - our bathroom kept on having issues, and they struggled fixing it, and it seemed like they didn't care - Breakfast isn't good
Our family stayed here recently as part of our Gate 1 tour. The staff was friendly, the grounds were beautiful (and even had the opportunity to see sloths - mama with her baby!), and the room was spacious. We had one dinner on site and our meal choices were set by the tour, but people enjoyed the different options that we had. It's an easy Uber ride into La Fortuna so the location is good. One slight issue was having consistent hot water for showers. I can't speak to specific pricing and value as this was booked as part of a tour, but we enjoyed our stay.
Excellent hotel, enjoyable stay. We stayed 3 nights in a Deluxe two queen bed "casita"/ cottage. Comfortable, with safety deposit box, coffee maker and fridge. We loved the terrace for drinking out coffee in the morning or wine in the evening. Great jacuzzi, which can be booked at reception, for your personal use. Nice pool which we did not use. Loungers by the pool, which we used for reading and relaxing in the late afternoon. Nice restaurant on premises. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast buffet. Good restaurant on premises with good food and service. Affordable prices. Lovely grounds with views of the volcano. Beautiful flowers all around. Special thanks to the owner, Hector for his professionalism. Enjoyable stay. Recommended!
My husband and I stayed here for four nights. Unfortunately it was rainy all but one day so we did not get to enjoy the view that much. When it is cloudy the view is very obscured. That did not however detract from the lush gardens or dozens of birds flitting around. The room was spacious with lovely cathedral ceilings however it did feel somewhat dated and sparse and could use a microwave or at least a communal microwave on property. The staff that we worked with upon check in and check out were nice and the process was easy. Breakfast was fine but nothing spectacular. Overall we might return but it was the most expensive place we stayed while in costa rica and our least favorite of the three.
The room had the perfect view to the Arenal volcano. Just like the breakfast place. The staff was friendly and the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The pool and the Jacuzzi were just big enough for us on a rainy day. The breakfast was good since there were a wide range of choices with coffee. The location of the hotel is perfect for all the activities in the area. The dinner and lunch options were too pricey compared to the choices. Pizza and pasta is not what I was looking for in Central America. Room service was only upon request which was great. Laundry service was temporarily not available which was unfortunate. Dont' try the horse riding activity because the guide is not friendly and the horses are in bad shape.
Everything about this place (rooms, restaurant, grounds, pool area) was just immaculate. Friendly staff -- good food (coffee could be a little stronger) We ate in the restaurant both evenings - excellent! The bird table, just off the breakfast room provided us with our best bird experience in Costa Rica. A good find!
Really enjoyed the beautiful landscaping and view. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly and the restaurant was nice. We especially enjoyed the gourmet pizzas. Very nice for those looking for a nice place to stay without it being a fancy resort with resort pricing.
