Pros Beautiful grounds Comfortable rooms Good base for Cerro Chato and waterfall treks Lovely staff Great breakfast (not included) Strong WiFi Lovely pool Cons Is far outside of town Doesn't fit the term 'Ecolodge' in my opinion as there is no focus on seeing wildlife (would have thought there would at least be bird feeders as I have heard there...

For la Fortuna, this is a nice place to stay and not as expensive as in the town. We stayed for one night wich was realy nice, breakfast ok, rooms clean, garden very nice and a cold and clean pool:-) Friendly run family cabins, very helpful. Rained in the night time and really was loud on the roof but it...

We were very happy and thank for the good reception. We could park our car right next to our hut, the shower is good, the bed also. Wifi works near the terrace in the middle of the grounds. You can have the typical tico breakfast (gallo pinto) for 5$. Only thing we didn’t like was the small envelop on the...

We loved this place. The owner was very friendly and more than willing to answer all of our questions. He assisted us with zip line and hot springs reservations. He always greeted us with a smiling face.

This was one of our favourite places to stay. Simple cabins spread out in a beautiful tropical garden teeming with wildlife. No frills, simple accommodation, but beds are adequate and the shower was great. Miguel the owner is a real character. Breakfast comes at an extra charge. View of Arenal are amazing. A couple of kilometers away from town,

My wife and I stayed at the Cerro Chat Eco Lodge for two nights. We booked an economy double room through Expedia and weren't disappointed. Cerro Chato Eco Lodge is a family run lodge and the location is great, just a 5 minute drive outside of La Fortuna in a nice country setting, away from hustle and noise of the...

Stayed here three nights while exploring the area around Arenal. The place is great value for money. Perfect for a base when you travel around doing tons of activities. Breakfast is traditional Costa Rican rice and beans and eggs and fruits. Would be perfect if there was more warm lights in the rooms and if the bug nets around the...

Miguel, the owner, is really friendly and helpful- plus humorous :-) The breakfast is a typical one with Gallo pinto, eggs and fresh fruit. It's good way to start off the day. The weather was pretty bad while we were there, so would have been nice with a cozy common room or a couple of chairs and a table in...

The lodge is not far out of La Fortuna but is much more peaceful. Close to some great walks and has a great view of the volcano. It's simple to get into town by a regular and very cheap bus or a taxi. Definitely better than town

We spent 2 nights here, the cabins are clean, tidy and have hot water which is nice at the end of the day The staff were nice and helpful, it is a little way out of fortuna but we walked once and got a taxi once and it was no problem. We even heard monkeys at night, they sounded like...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located at the base of the Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica (2.5 kms. from La Fortuna, on the road to Catarata Rio's Fortuna and only 15minutes by car from Tabacon's Hot Springs) with a spectacular view of the southeast side of the volcano, we have the advantage of being at a slightly higher altitude than La Fortuna, thus cooler. Also, we are off the main road enough to avoid the sound of grinding gears that are audible from almost all other hotels. The rooms are very spacious (32m2) with 1 double and 1 single bed, a large private bath with hot water, screened windows, ceiling fans, verandas with table and chairs, and landscaped grounds abundant with tropical flowers and birds. Full breakfast, available lunches, horse rental, laundry, internet service and secure parking lot. ... more   less
