This hotel was soo beautiful and the staff was so incredibly generous. They gave us a free room upgrade with an amazing view of the volcano, as well as free chocolate covered strawberries and an adorable little note. There were cute towel animals waiting for us in our rooms almost everyday. They had a small hiking trail and the buffet breakfast was excellent. The view of the volcano while u ate were so cool. The pool area was also amazing, my only complaint would be the strong smell of chemicals from the hot tub. It irritated my eyes and I couldn’t stand the smell. It was enjoyable for many other guests though, so personally I might just be sensitive to it. Regardless I recommend this hotel highly, it is amazing!!!!
Situated on the western side of La Fortuna and down a bumpy country road about half a mile off the main highway is a little slice of heaven for all volcano fans. My wife and I opted for the very reasonably-priced apartment-style rooms as you first drive onto the property which consisted of a small bedroom and bathroom with a shower. Our place was perfectly clean, comfortable, and had plenty of hot water. Although the view of the volcano was obscured by rain and clouds when we first arrived, we got up at drybreak the next morning to see Arenal. Oh, boy, what a magical view! We drank coffee on the front porch while watching stream drift from the summit! Afterwards, we walked around the hilly property which is full of exotic flowers taking lots of pics of the volcano before going to breakfast. The included breakfast was super and consisted of an omelette bar as well as lots of other choices - easily a $20 meal in the US. Service throughout the property was also amazing. In short, we hated to leave the place but highly recommend Lomas de Volcan!…
The setting and views at this hotel are breathtaking, it is an absolute gem of a place to stay. The wildlife was amazing from the toucan that came each evening outside of our lodge to survey his territory, to the lady hummingbird that had a nest with chicks in a tree just outside the bar, to all the frogs and toads that came out when it rained. We ate lunch and dinner at the hotel and the food was good, great that you can have the same menu in the bar as the restaurant so you don’t have to get dressed up after a 5 hour hike! All of the staff were so helpful and friendly, I would return to this hotel without hesitation.
1. single bungalow with two decks with amassing volcan view. 2. privet trail thru mountain forest 3. AC, TV and rest of equipment at great condition 4. nice pool, bar, restaurant. 5. very nice service, pool and jacuzzi
From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were living in a fairytale. These cute but spacious bungalows are nestled in the rainforest each with an incredible view of Arenal Volcano. The food was delicious! You must try the pizza, ravioli and steak!
This hotel is Beautiful, the rooms are individual cottages with outside dining and seating areas with an amazing view of the volcano or at least it would have been if it hadn’t been cloudy for the few days we were there. The restaurant food was really good and you could also take a taxi to the local town la Fortuna which has lots of good restaurants. The gardens at the hotel are beautiful too.
The hotel was of a good standard and a pleasure to stay at. Most of the staff were really friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. What lets this place down is the food in the evening. The bar snacks are of high quality, but the meals in the restaurant and some of the waiting staff need improving. What a shame this lets the other staff down as it is only a few that are miserable and surly. The food was very reasonably priced but the quality was not good. I sent back a steak because it was too tough to eat and its replacement was as bad. Such a shame overall the place was excellent.
We stayed at Lomas del Volcan for three nights in the middle of our two week trip through Costa Rica. Lomas del Volcan is about 1KM out of town on a steep bumpy road. It is located near the base of the volcano in a very attractive garden setting. The rooms are separate bungalows, and ours (519) was very roomy with 2 comfortable queen beds. There was a small porch at the front of the bungalow and an enclosed patio at the back. From the patio we had a great view of the volcano, when it wasn't enclosed by fog. The room had a mini fridge, a safe, a desk and chair, a TV, and A/C. My only complaint about the room was that in spite of the many lights, it still seemed dark. The vegetation around the complex was fantastic. Breakfast was served buffet style and therefore there were many options. Also, there was an “eggs to order” station. Dinners were served off a menu and were professionally prepared. The prices were quite reasonable and the quality of the food was excellent. There are lots of restaurants in town, but a car is needed. The front desk told us that a one way taxi into town was $6. It was more convenient for us to just eat at the lodge restaurant. The staff at Lomas Del Volcano was very friendly and helpful. I definitely would recommend staying here if visiting the area.…
What a lovely hotel. The room was amazing, we had a cabin with a hot tub outside which has a lovely view of the jungle. Shortly after arriving here we did the trail at the back of the hotel, which was really good although we didn’t see much, just a frog and a curassow. The pool was lovely and we spent some time relaxing here. Breakfast was nice but very strange covid rules and we had to wear a glove to serve yourself at the buffet which seemed a bit much. The reason for the 4 stars is because the staff here were very unfriendly. We had a couple of cocktails at the pool bar and both barmen who served us it seemed as though it was a huge effort to make us a drink, very rude. Then we ordered room service in the evening, an hour had passed and still no sign of the food. We called up to check and there was “no record that we ordered” and they were very rude. Even tried to charge us an extra $10 for room service. The person on the phone then hung up on my fiancé and we had to call back again. We order at 7:30 and eventually had food at 9:15. Luckily this was taken off the bill in the end. Needless to say for such a lovely hotel they really need to work on their service. It really made us feel unwelcome there.…
Beautiful view of Arenal, as the hotel is located at it's base. Great selection for breakfast buffet, amazing fresh fruit, and selection of fruit juices. Cabins are private and clean. Natural sounds in the morning are fun to wake up. Pool area is clean and aesthetically pleasing. Staff is always helpful.
