This place has everything you might wish for, extensive grounds with nice walks,a great swimming pool, horse riding, butterfly garden, views of the river and to top all this, in my view, when you turn up for breakfast you will find the staff have put out fruit on feeders for the exotic birds, these you can view and photograph as you munch on your eggys. This is a quiet resort in a tropical setting a bit away from the craziness of the main tourist areas. It's a nice, scenic 20 minute drive to the main town--I appreciated the time to wind down in the car after the day's activities. The staff is very helpful and accommodating, although perhaps not entirely up to speed on all...

The hotel has comfortable rooms most with balconies and most overlooking the river, check out the ecological complementary toiletries in the rooms. The grounds are full of wildlife and interesting trees and flowers, there is even a butterfly garden. Good bar and restaurant with set and A la Carte menus available.

If you ever come to El Arenal Volcano region (and if you visit Costa Rica you have a likelihood of 95%...) try to book at least 2 nights here. Absolutely stunning location, all rooms facing the San Carlos river and the beautiful (and huge!) garden of the hotel, where on sunny days tens of Iguanas will pose for a picture....

I spent three nights here as part of a group spending two weeks on a walking holiday around Costa Rica. It was the second of four hotels that we stayed in and, although it is set in a lovely location beside a river where we saw cayman and iguanas, the rooms we stayed in are in dire need of a...

Hotel was included in our tour package, hotel was very nice but it bit to formal for us. Beautiful gardens that had a sloth in the tree by the restaurant, along boa constrictor was always seen in the next tree. Croc's seen in the river, iguana hanging out in the trees. A good base for exploring. Great cocktails at the...

Our second time at this hotel, first in rainy season then in dry season. Abundance of wildlife on our doorstep this time. The sounds of the forest all day and night was amazing. A baby sloth was at arms distance in a tree right next to the restaurant and delighted us by showing its pretty face whilst climbing through the...

Out of the way but a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful grounds and gardens. Flowers everywhere, well maintained property and there were no bugs. Lots of birds and wildlife and a wonderful small butterfly garden enclosure. I got some of the best bird pictures of the trip from my table at breakfast - the birds were right...

We like to be close to attractions and sightseeing places when visiting Costa Rica. The location of this place did not meet this criteria. It was 1 hour from the Arenal area and not much else was around it. The compound, however, was very nice and included stables, tennis courts, pools, a botanical garden and a bar/restaurant. I suppose it...
