If you enjoy nature and hiking, this is the best location in the Arenal/La Fortuna area. We hiked all of their trails and enjoyed incredible views from our lodge! Don't miss the restaurant. Breakfast is included, which is very nice, but we were so pleasantly surprised with the dinners. Nice to find a decent wine selection too.

Quite a long drive up from La Fortuna but a beautiful setting close up to Arenal volcano. Our room was near the pool and reached from reception via a suspension bridge. The grounds are large and very well maintained full of tropical birds. The reception staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and large with a small balcony.....

Service is indifferent to poor, food extremely limited & you are quite isolated in the event that you choose to look for alternative dining or evening hospitality (minimum $ 50 return for transport to another location, restaurant or bar). Rooms are basic, even at the top level. My assumption is that this is, or was a government run establishment &...

The grounds here are beautiful. We unfortunately had a weekend of straight rain, but I understand that beyond our limited 50ft view is Arenal Volcano. There is plenty of hiking to be had around the area and tons of beautiful birds. We stayed in the Casona Rooms. I'd say it is no different than an average hostel. There are separate...

Can't beat the view or the nearby hiking trails or the nice pool and jacuzzi. We were there two nights without car. That meant no dining options save for the onsite restaurant. The place is fine, but it is pricey. Waitstaff is very attentive and friendly, and most speak English competently enough. I'd go back, but next time probably with...

We stayed at the lodge for 1 night. After reading all the reviews, I decided to stay just 1 night on our way out of the La Fortuna area. The lodge itself is very nice. Spread out over lots of acres. Having hiking trails onsite was nice. We hiked the Old Lava trail. We stayed in a standard room with...

We stayed here early Dec.for 3 nights. Unfortunately we could not see the volcano because of the clouds, we did have a great view of the lake however. We took part in the morning walk which was great, even our kids liked it!! The food in the restaurant was quite good and the included breakfast had a lot of choices....

Came here in 2009 and returned again in 2012. Unfortunately the volcano has not erupted for 2-3yrs, tho we saw vapours from the top when the cloud cleared. Go for a Smithsonian room - well worth the extra. Restaurant food is a bit uninspiring and not cheap. If you have transport definitely try Don Rufino's in La Fortuna instead. spent...

We chose this hotel in hopes to see an active volcano. Unfortunately it was not active while we were there although it was a risk I would be willing to make again. The staff was extremely nice, informative, and helpful. We chose the Junior suite. We went in November right on the cusp of rainy season and tourist season so our...

Stayed here for three nights late November and it was everything that we had hoped for. Unfortunately we joined the majority of visitors to this area and never saw the top of the volcano!! this did not spoil the trip as so much to do and we walked every trail on the property including the one to the top of...
