My husband and I just spent 4 nights here as part of our honeymoon in Costa Rica, and we had the most incredible time at Amor Arenal. When you drive up the hill, you are whisked away to the most magical place in the rainforest. The property and grounds are beautiful, but the casita will take your breath away. As soon as you walk in, you’ll quickly realize there’s no place like it… from the windows to the beautiful wood, plunge pool and rain shower… it’s better than the pictures! We had delicious breakfasts each morning (included in the room rate) and were greeted by Raquel, who really embodies Costa Rican hospitality and pura vida. Beautiful spa too and take advantage of the trails on the property. The pool is a great place to unwind and the swim-up bar is a can’t miss - Mauricio makes the best cocktails and is a true master of his craft. There is an on-site baker and she set aside some chocolate cake for us the day before we left knowing we wanted to try it. What makes this hotel truly special are the staff and impeccable service. They will arrange any activity, transportation, dinner reservations, you name it. It gave us the opportunity to really enjoy our stay without having to worry about logistics. The front desk and bellmen are fantastic - Jogebeth, Marilyn, Oscar, Byron - those are just a few, but the list goes on. Thank you to Amor Arenal for a perfect stay! Can’t wait to come back!

Hotel's Favourite
This property is a beautiful, peaceful oasis near Arenal. We stayed here for three nights as part of a 10-day trip to Costa Rica and this was our favorite place on the entire trip. Good location, easy access to all of the attractions/hiking trails and there are also a few trails on the property. Make sure to take advantage of the free yoga every morning! The casitas are incredible. Comfortable beds with gorgeous showers and views of the volcano. The private hot tub on the back balcony was amazing! Food was absolutely delicious- make sure to book a night at La jaranita! Incredible value with free breakfast. Drinks at the pool bar were too good :) cannot recommend Amor Arenal enough! Stay here!!!!

The room here is incredible. You have your own private jacuzzi which looks into the jungle and you can see various wildlife from here such as birds, lizards, frogs etc. The pool area is lovely, there are two pools and we only used pool one as it has a swim up wet bar where the water is 36 degrees. Lovely! We also had lunch there which was good as no need to go and get changed when you can eat it at the poolside. The staff were friendly and the food is really good. You can see the volcano from the restaurant and rooms on a clear day. There is a mini bar stocked in the room which is free the first time round. You can also order room service if you wanted, although we didn’t. We had a massage here which was lovely too. You can book this with reception. We were in room 30 so at the bottom of the hill. The hill is a steep climb up to the restaurant although golf carts are available if needed. I would recommend you use one in the rain as the path gets quite slippery and I nearly slipped a couple of times. Special mention to the security guard who was near our room, Alex. He was really friendly and spoke to us every time he saw us, making us feel very welcome. You can take a self guided tour of the Naciton trail but be careful!! We came across the Ferdelance snake which is one of the most deadly in Costa Rica. Luckily we knew what we were looking out for as we’d done a lot of jungle treks previously but if you’re not sure, go with a guide as you can arrange this with reception for free. We also did the Serenity trail which is guided only and has a cost of $35 per person. We also had excursions prebooked by our travel agent to go to local places such as the Hangine Bridges, the 1968 Volcano Trail and the Tabacon Hot Springs. All of these places are within 15mins of Amor Arenal so a nice central place to stay if you have activities planned. We had our breakfast and dinner included although did eat at the La Juanita restaurant one night which is a must!! You have to book but it was an amazing experience. Prices here are quite expensive, $20 for a gin and tonic for example, although this seems to be the theme across the whole of Costa Rica. Overall a lovely stay and would highly recommend.

Our 4 nights at Amor Arenal exceeded our dream vacation. From the privately tucked away "casitas", to the impeccable interior decor made with exquisite local hardwood, to the massive windows in the room and bathroom, overlooking the rainforest and a majestic view of the Arenal Volcano. We often indulged in the gorgeous mineral water jacuzzi on our private deck, and the spa and yoga services just added to the lavish experience. The restaurant offerings were delicious and carefully prepared and, the icing on the cake was the thoughtful staff, who anticipated our every need with genuine friendliness.

We just returned from a week’s stay at Amor for our anniversary, and from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, it was pure bliss! 5 stars all the way! The resort itself is designed in such a way that there is incredible privacy and once in your casita-room, it’s just you, the rainforest and the volcano. Heavenly. The breakfasts too are incredible. Each morning we were presented with a selection of fresh-squeezed fruit juices and fabulous entree options. We highly recommend the Costa Rican breakfast. And that coffee…can we talk?? Haha. Just delicious. But what really stood out for us were the staff. Every single one made our experience super special. They are incredibly gracious and genuinely intent on making your stay simply magical. Shout out to Wilson, Osker(s) (there were two!), Joseph, and of course both Raquels, who took such great care of us and seemed to celebrate our anniversary with us! We can’t wait to return to this magical place. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else in the Arenal area. Pura Vida!! Todd & Jody

We were traveling as a family to Costa Rica in the summer and decided to treat ourselves to 2 nights at Amor Arenal. Although it was more on the expensive side, the rooms looked roomy and I loved the look of the heated swimming pool. We booked two rooms, one for my husband and I, and one for our 3 children. On arrival at the hotel it was, as I can only describe quite a chaotic reception. There were lots of staff around a small desk, paper work everywhere and lots of telephone calls being made. Not quite the calm and relaxed experience I have experienced at most 5 star resorts I have stayed at. When we were taken to our rooms, they are indeed spacious and the swimming pool was lovely. I believe every room at this hotel offers the same experience in terms of style and space. However that’s where the luxury experience ends. We were asked at reception where we would be eating, they were very pushy about us eating in the hotel restaurant and that we would need to book as it would be busy. I decided to book for that evening. On arrival for our dinner, it was quite the opposite, quiet. I thought I saw a tumbleweed fly past me! Absolutely no need to book at all. I think we saw 4 other diners in there the whole evening. This frustrated me, as this was a clear sign of the hotel pushing their restaurant to us, and it wasn’t truthful to say it would be fully booked. I guess it’s not the end of the world, but the food was incredibly disappointing. They had an extensive, tired looking menu which always makes me nervous as it’s difficult to do so many different dishes well. The food was also extremely expensive, which again I don’t mind if the food is good!! We went to the swimming pools around the resort the following day, Ouf, not the most exciting experience. They have I think, 3 small, pokey old fashioned rock pools with one sorry, old fashioned swim up bar. There are a few plastic chairs and loungers which are dotted around the place. I hope you are getting the picture! This is certainly not the luxe experience I was expecting. There are plenty of other hotels around Arenal, don’t waste your money here!

My husband and I stayed 2 nights to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We absolutely loved it. The hotel cottages are huge, very private, in the middle of the rain forest. The highlight is the large, heated private jaccuzi on the terrace with a view of the Arenal volcano. The hotel is quite small, so there are not a lot of people, which was nice. We enjoyed a free outdoor yoga class one morning. The noises of the rain forest are like spa music. Overall, a very relaxing, romantic vacation in a location that was unlike anywhere we have ever been. We much prefered this location/hotel than the beach resorts on the Pacific.

Stayed at Amor Arenal from 9/16-9/20 and it was one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever stayed at. To be completely surrounded by nature and the daily views of the volcano were breathtaking. The staff was EXCELLENT and their priority are the guest, they consistently went above and beyond, the food was delicious and the casitas with the private jacuzzi exceeded our expectations. The shower views - I still dream of them. Ronald went above an beyond on a daily basis, friendly, and very knowledgeable of the culture and traditions. Raquel was a pleasure and so fun to chat with, we had some great laughs and she made sure to recommend great places to eat and things to do. We will absolutely be back!

The staff make it so easy to plan incredible excursions that make the trip so memorable. I have already been twice now and hope to return ASAP. Check this place out! If you're going to Costa Rica, Amor Arenal should be the only place you stay!
