Once again we spent the night prior to leaving with Bernie & Nhi. With each stay the garden seems more lush & they continue to update the casitas. The wifi was even better this time. The bread pudding at breakfast is still "to die for". It is so nice to know there is a beautiful spot so near the airport.

We stayed here the night we flew into San Jose for our vacation in Jaco, and stayed their the night before we returned, as we had an early flight. The rooms (villas, in both cases in our stay, we were upgraded because "they were available" - how cool is that?) are very cool, with mini-kitchens, full size coffee makers with...

Pura Vida Hotel was the perfect introduction to the life of "Pura Vida" in Costa Rica. We used the hotel as an after dark airport stopover on our way to the beach. Little did we know we would find paradise, complete with clean rooms, big comfortable beds and service with breakfast to die for. We had our rental car delivered...

What an amazing place tucked away in such privacy and so close to the airport. This is a perfect place to stay while visiting Costa Rica. The grounds are beautiful and full of fruits and vegetables that you will be eating during your stay. The owners, Bernie and Nhi, are amazing hosts making you feel like part of the family....

We stayed at Pura Vida upon arrival in San Jose and the night before leaving San Jose due to an early morning flight. Bernie was very helpful and responsive to our emails prior to arrival with candid advice. We stayed in the Volcano Room which was immaculately clean and the balcony overlooked the property. The hotel pays for the taxi...

MMMmmm, back to my beautiful coffee plantation turned Bed and Breakfast. Perched on a hill amongst the numerous flowers, butterflies and birds, encouraged by the painstaking developement of plantings created by the owners and devoted gardeners. I am again amazed at how camouflaged this hotel becomes against the backdrop of the city. This time, I enjoyed the the private spacious...

We stayed at the Pura Vida hotel in Alajuela with Berni, Nih, and Carlos and the gang (including 2 cool german shepherds) 2 nights, during our visit to Costa Rica. What a fabulous place! it was like staying with old friends who have a gorgeous home 5 miles from the San Jose airport. The cabinas are lovely and tastefully decorated,...

We stayed at the Pura Vida our first night in Costa Rica. When we checked in, my wife realized that our passports were missing! Berni and his wife helped us track down the cab that dropped us off, and thank goodness the driver found them! That was just the kind of above and beyond service we experienced while we were...

From the moment Carlos greeted us mere minutes from arriving in Costa Rica, we fell in love with Pura Vida (both the hotel and the meaning behind the phrase you'll hear often in Costa Rica). Besides two of the most memorable breakfasts I've ever had in my life, the gorgeous grounds, the ridiculously convenient service of arranging our car rental,...

I first met Berni while reading in a hammock on our private little patio outside our villa. Delightful, entertaining and knowledge-rich conversationalist who left me laughing and informed. Berni knows people who know people ... which gave us great confidence in moving about by cab and tour bus. The grounds and buildings -- and humerous postings -- gently coax guests...
