Stayed here due to proximity to airport...for meeting a lat flight. Great location, nice staff, upgraded to a family room which was large....small but nice pool. Great restaurants nearby, about 2 blocks off Central Park.....so was able to walk to the Mercado, bank, and museum, and churches for sight-seeing during our short stay. Front desk staff were fabulous...calling cabs, directions, suggestions.
Only thing I didn’t like was the breakfast...continental....
I would have given a better rating because the hotel is well located ,breakfast is included and they have a shuttle to the airport but the beds were not the greatest.I've had better beds in hostels. But it is a good deal for2 people
The place is a bit spartan but for the price it is ok if you want a simple accommodation near the airpot which was my primary reason for staying here. I would not stay here as a base to see San Jose. On the map the streets look quite small so I didn't expect it to be a major truck and bus route. We had the largest room, a huge family suite on the corner which meant that the bus and traffic noise was there most of the time. The backside of the hotel could be much quieter.
As a suggestion to make life easier for guests I'd suggest more hooks for hanging clothes in the bathroom. There's a a reasonable amount of room just no place to hang up clothes. The a/c worked quite well and the hotel feels well managed. We requested parking and they have a great arrangement with the parking garage 30 feet away from the hotel.
The location nearer to the airport was my main criteria in selecting this hotel.
Room was Spartan, very old furniture, tiny bathroom, not real clean.I opened the door and was greeted by a centipede, squished him.Good location near some really good restaurants, walking distance.I had an excellent meal at Chiwake, Peruvian. The hotel employees were nice and helpful.
I ended up needing a place to stay at the last minute in Alajuela, and my taxi driver suggested this place. It’s fine (relatively clean), but I wouldn’t call it nice. In addition, the staff were not particularly friendly. The main benefit is that it’s about a 5 minute drive from the San Jose airport. Overall, I would advise travelers to skip San Jose and Alajuela and fly out on a red eye or during the day to avoid the night stay. If you really get stuck, this isn’t a terrible option, but it’s likely not going to be memorable or a great night’s sleep either. I would give it a 2.5.
