I am so grateful for my friend who recommended this location to me as I was in quite a jam. I needed a safe place to stay that would accept my dogs and right away the owner told me this would not be a problem. It was quite obvious that they loved animals upon my arrival and the owner Heinke...

As a long time repeat visitor to Hotel Coconut House I feel that I must respond to the review calling it a joke. My wife and I stayed there Friday night before flying home after a wonderful 2 week vacation on the Carribean coast. No A/C is true but if you need it you should stay in a airport hotel...

No air conditioning in the room, no screens in the windows, no hot water, no soap in the bathroom, no ice for guests, 'breakfast' was crusty bread and bologna. The inn keeper is rude and abrasive. Not a place to recommend to your worst enemy.

Super friendly hosts. Clean, quiet and very relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast was limited to between 7 - 8:15 but was delicious. Coffee, tea and fresh juice, Bread with different kind of cheese and ham and finally fresh cut fruits. I really enjoyed my stay here.

I stayed one night so I could get an early morning flight. Heike was very helpful, providing a map with city highlights and directions back to the hotel. There is a bus into town on the corner but it was a pleasant walk for me so did not need it. I was in an area where 3 rooms shared a...

We love our stays with Heike and Reiner. Heike is extremely helpful and Reiner can be seen most afternoons resting in his hammock waiting for guests to arrive. The hotel is extremely clean and well maintained. Breakfast with homemade bread provides a perfect start to the day. The bus line to downtown Alajuela is just around the corner, MegaSuper with...

This was the 2d place we stayed in Alajuela on our Costa Rica vacation and we were happy to find Heike & Reiner. Great little place, clean and basic, with plenty of attractive outdoor patio space and a nice neighborhood for strolling after a long car or plane ride. Reiner was kind enough to let us brew up some tea...

This was a clean, safe and quiet place to stay near the airport. The room was basic but that's all we needed for a short stay before our flight. I cant tell you what breakfast was like because we left very early. Taxi ride to airport was about $8. The host was helpful. It was a pleasant stay for us.

We stayed already a couple of times with Heike & Reiner and can highly recommend their place to everyone! Its a cute and clean hotel, very close to the aiport (~10 min by taxi) and the rates are absolutely fair. The rooms are equipped with basic needs, overhead ventilators and private or common bathroom. It is located quietly within a...

We stayed here in March and then again in April 2011. It is a short taxi ride from the airport and nothing is too much trouble for the owners - so friendly and helpful. My wife had to fly home after two weeks in Costa Rica so I travelled up to Nicaragua on local buses and Heiki's knowledge of the...

“Make sure you know how to work the shower properly. There is a big binder in each room with info but you may just want to ask. I don't know what to advise about barking dogs!! Use bug spray before sitting out in the evening.”

“We had a room in the back with 2 beds; if you end up here, be sure to choose the bed closest to the street as it benefits more from the ceiling fan than the bed near the back.”
