Stayed there for a few nights when visiting Shanghai for a conference. The location is terrific. Close to shopping malls, subway; and many restaurants in the shopping malls. The staff are very friendly; check-in is fast and staff helped me to get taxi. The rate is not very high, compared to many other hotels in Shanghai. The room is soso;...

This Hotel is Perfect. The Area is full of choices to eat and to do Shopping. Also the subway stops there (line 1 & 9) so that is great to move around Shanghai. The breakfast is Excelent. Very Good choice

This hotel is representative enough for business meetings since it has a quiet executive floor. Not too fancy but close to many offices and good restaurants. The service is very good but need to improve the lightings. Free wifi.

Rooms are great with good service. Amenities are good and the included breakfasts are good. It's quite close to Xujiahui Station and all tourist spots are about 20 to 30 mins away by train. There are quite a few local malls and many places to sample to local food. I would stay there again during my next visit.

I have stayed here on multiple occasions. This is supposed to be a non-smoking facility. The GM has a letter waiting in your room that states this. However, staff are amongst the worst offenders. Amazingly, and yes I know this is China, the staff smokes in the fitness center, while guests are working out. The room A/C does not function...

I have stayed in this hotel numerous times. Loved the proximity to the subway and also the shopping district of Xujiahui. The subway is about 20m from the hotel entrance and the shopping malls are just 500m walk down the street. Breakfast is average and room is decent.

This a decent, fairly comfortable hotel. The rooms are average for Chinese standards, though as mentioned in other reviews, come armed with a VPN if you want to access most websites/apps you're used to. I found the location of this hotel to be the one thing I really didn't like. It seems I spent hours each day travelling to and...

Have just spent 10 days at this hotel whilst attending an event and I could not have been happier with it. Having read some of the negative reviews I was a little worried, but I could not fault anything about the hotel, staff or my room and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in staying in...

I travel frequently to Shanghai, and my weekend base is most of the time the Jianguo Hotel. It is not real welcome any more by all the years I visited it. Some rooms are not in the best status and for examples the chairs in the room have a very old style. The positive point is the place of the...

I picked this hotel for the value and location close to another hotel my daughter's sport team was staying. It is close to the subway station, lots of regular living things (family mart, mall, electronics stores, eating places) in walking distance. Streets are lighted and many people walking through late at night. I felt safe to walk. There are English...

Staying in Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang

Neighbourhood Profile
Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang
West of Shanghai’s better-known business, cultural and entertainment centers, lies an expansive area of residential neighborhoods peppered with lifestyle pockets that have their own unique attractions. The schools have formed pockets of international communities throughout Gubei, Hongqiao and Minhang. Quite a few entertainment and shopping centers have built up over the years to cater to these communities. While living here means you are relatively far away from Shanghai’s usual hot spots, the large parks, spacious homes and proximity to great Japanese and Korean food keep the neighborhoods popular.
