I was only staying overnight on business but it's the best location I've had for a budget hotel as it's right in the middle of the action. The hotel was clean and functional if a little basic however that's all I needed for my nights stay.

Pro's: There were more things I LOVED than what I found frustrating. 1.) Its about 45 minutes from Pu Dong airport via taxi/private car (we got a private car from airport that cost 700RMB = $102 USD) 2.) The hotel is right across the street from People's Square Station 3.) The breakfast buffet was good, it had enough to fill...

Built in the 1930s, with plenty of memorabila to recall the times including flooring, furnishings and lights. The rooms and corridors are charming and the staff are very helpful. Deligthfully located close to the Park, great Shanghai restaurants, the Shanghai Museum and Concert Hall and a lovely walk down the mall to the Bund. Reasonably priced and charming. More than...

I swithered on giving this hotel an average or very good review for sometime before writing this review and have decided on the very good option as the initial problems we had were resolved quickly and efficiently. This hotel is in an excellent location for first time visitors and tourists as within walking distance of the bund, peoples park and...

Stayed on holiday for 4 nights. Room was damp - sheets had to be changed as wet and there were areas of mould on walls. Hotel is quirky and nice features but decor tired and drab. Could do with a refurb.

I stayed here on business and so had a transfer from the airport, but it looks as if public transportation would also be easy: the hotel is very close to the metro. There is a pedestrianised street just along to the left which is buzzing with restaurants and coffee shops, although the hotel also has its own restaurant should you...

I had a deluxe room, which was really great, very spacious, comfortable, quiet, strong wifi and nice amenities. There were a number of opening windows, which was good to get some frsh air, but the aircon was good anyway. Staff were helpful and it was easy to get to, being right next to exit 9 of the Peoples Square metro...

This 1930's gothic style building looks like it is right off the set of the film, Ghostbusters. However, the grand illusion of an illustrious old lady of building soon evaporated after one night, and we were ready to leave after 2 nights. The lobby looks fantastic, as does the dining room. But checkin was a painful experience with the Brothers...

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
