great location (1min from the subway station), service is ok, stuff is kind, wi-fi worked well (not very fast but it's ok). i don't know about breakfast because i just booked only room. you also have to pay the deposit (1000RMB for 3 nights in my case) when you check-in. i didn't have enough RMB so they charges with my...

This Chinese 5* hotel is perfectly located off Huahai Rd. the best shopping street in Shanghai. The staff are efficient, the rooms are clean, the breakfast was really good with everything from dumplings to eggs and breads...really overwhelming. We stayed for 4 nights. However, service...and I mean the most minimal amount of empathy is not there. We had a family...

We came as part of a long trip in China. One of the best hotels we stayed so far. Loved the suite, great service, very pleased with everything. Well located to see the city of Shanghai. And most important most of the staff speaks English

One of the better Chinese hotels. I would have given it three stars but when room service guy turned up in a stained uniform, wearing slippers to deliver a 'boil-in-the-bag' tasting chicken curry on a cold plate along with a small can of coke that cost me £6 I lost the will to live. Security at door is a sham,...

Spacious room, with separate working area which I appreciated very much. Internet a bit slow. Tired interior, needs urgent upgrading to 2016 standards. It was a bit annoying that I got flyers for adult services (sex girls) slid under my door. It means that somebody can go up unseen. That feels unsafe. Why is there no system in place to...

The Hotel is very clean, specious and comfortable. The rooms that are directing to the Pudong area are awesome, you can see all the towers in the evening. It is also possible to take a walk of approx 30 minutes to get to the city center, to the Pudong area it is 15 min more.

I have to say my partners took care on the organization. Price for the standard to high. Everything is bit old and it doens't look and seem 100% clean. The bathroom was in very bad condition! Next time for sure somewhere else!

Stayed for 4 nights on business, in an executive suite. Very spacious room with a working desk. Overall a great experience. Great location as subway station is just a stone throw across the street. Very good restaurant or eating house around or across the street. If you need some shopping therapy at most 5 or 10 mins walk away. Breakfast...

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighbourhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
