I have been staying at the Portman Ritz Carlton Shanghai for the past 5 weeks now during the lockdown. Hotel staff have been very helpful during these challenging times. Special recognition to Joselle Basa whose customer service has been exceptional. Hotel management has tried to make our stay (quarantined in our rooms) as comfortable as possible. The hotel GM (Tarik Temucin) is also very accessible and supportive. I am rating 4 stars because I haven’t experienced much of their bar/restaurant, fitness center, etc as they are all shut down due to the lockdown.

During the Shanghai lockdown, I had the privilege to stay at the Portman Ritz Carlton Hotel, and I have developed a whole new respect for this well-established hotel property. Estelle, one of the on duty managers, was one of the most helpful hotel staff I have met in a very long time. She went out of her way multiple times to assist me in obtaining government papers to be able to get my PCR test and get me prepared for my international flight. With all the challenges going on, Estelle not only maintain her extremely positive attitude, but she help me as a guest reduce my stress and worries. During the evenings, many of the guests were quite stressed from being locked down in Shanghai. One of the brighter spots was the lobby lounge/bar. They have a tremendously kind and energetic group of bartenders and wait staff. To name a few, Cindy, Louis, Alfred, Taylor, Candy, and Winnie worked together like a well oiled machine yeah making all the gas feel like ease by giving us laughter and comfort. They really made us weary travelers feel at home and at ease. Hats off to them! Being a lifetime titanium member I have stayed at hundreds hotels accumulating over 850 nights of my life, and this was one of the stays that I will remember. The guest Service William (with the concierge gold keys 👍👍) was really helpful to me during this strange lockdown time. He helped a lot to go through it and the level of service is definitely what I am expecting from a five star hotel. Thank you William!
I’m very happy to stay here during 3 weeks. Especially thank Livia and Irene. I was the first time to come this city but I can settle down well thanks to them. They helped me to use bank service very conveniently even in Covid situation. And I got a support to order something using local application. They spent much time to me sincerely even day off… I’m very very impressed. Thanks a lot Ritz Carlton.
This is to sincerely share our appreciation to the hosting for our business event during the pandemic of Covid 19 in Shanghai in March.2022. Although we under the tough times, but we still have a very good moment for all the arrangement. All of the team members have a preciously memory for the high standard and excellent service for Elaine team. The room is very comfortable; the service and the people is so kind and professional . We have stayed at this Ritz multiple times. The service is excellent. Phil and the rest of the team from Guest Relations team are fantastic. No question went unanswered and they were always there to help out. Phil personally delivered chocolate to our room and the kids did not hesitate to eat the chocolate. We enjoyed the pool and went swimming multiple times. Overall a wonderful stay and the whole Ritz team is on top of their game. We would not hesitate to stay here again!
Awesome!!! All hotel staffs are very polite and active, you could feel their smiles even they wear a mask. This time is a super beyond expectation stay during the Chinese New Year. Particularly, Haley in the executive lounge, she is very professional. The whole service experience we got from her has exceeded 100 points, from the telephone contact before check-in, the whole stay for 4 days and 3 nights, and the check-out. Every moment, you can feel the super high-quality service from the executive lounge team. When checking out, Haley also gave my kid a Ritz kids backpack, my kid really like this one. I want to express A BIG THANK YOU to Haley and the Executive Lounge team, and the entire Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai hotel, for providing us with an ultimate holiday experience. We went on the weekend, and while our departure at the lobby. There was an area with Tiger year decoration and a lucky lion doll costume that my daughter liked it so much and walked back and forth for several times. The hotel staffs Amy and Chloe noticed my daughter and welcomed her to hug lucky doll. When we left, my daughter also got a lion bag for souvenir, which is my daughter’s favorite bag on her bed now. We come often and definitely come again!
Absolutely, my parents and I love the tremendous Club Lounge up on the 43th floor. Stylish decoration with classic furnitures, attractive delicious buffet layout. Five meals accompanied with 5-Star service, performed by a magnificent team with Ritz-Carlton Ladies and Gentlemen. Especially, Meghan and Harkin, who have definitely been showing hotelier’s expertise and hospitality to their distinguished guests.
