Located near a metro (a few minutes walk), it is also near the shopping area. Stayed here for 2 nights in the deluxe room. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Affordable too. With common area where self-service laundry services are available. Would definitely recommend!

I stayed at this hostel for 4 nights and stayed in a 6 bed female form. The dorms are small but have everything you need, a comfortable bed, large locker, toilet and hot shower. The hostel does have wifi, however it does not work in the rooms and only really works best downstairs in the lobby area. The location of...

I stayed four nights in a private room with ensuite for around $50AUD Great location - you can walk loads of places and the metro is about a 3 min walk away. Staff speak English, which is very helpful but they are not the friendliest! The wifi is pretty rubbish but it works on and off. They serve a fantastic...

This hostel made our stay super comfortable. We loved almost everything about it - perfect location, awesome & spacious room (we took twin room 406 - it has a window and is very good), clean and had very good food downstairs. The cons - bad wifi, not so friendly staff, and the bed quality was not great. All in all,...

We have been at the hostel a week while we were looking for an apartment in Shanghai and the place is amazing. The small street and the place contrast with the crowded and noisy streets. Staff at the reception and at the bar speak english (very useful if you do not speak chinese) and are really nice people. The place...

This is the third Mingtown Hostel Ive stayed in, and it lived up to my expectations. It's got a lovely little cafe/dining/lounge are downstairs at the entrance. All the Mingtowns seem to go in for this kind of cottagey decoration with "antique" Chinese touches and big ceramic vases of flowers. It's really charming and doesn't feel like you're in a...

Absolutely excellent location - unbeatable- very central - just what you need because getting around everywhere in Shanghai with all the crowds can be really stressful. Lots of restaurants near by. Very close to the metro stop which takes you straight to the airport. The room was clean and like a hotel - with a tv and airconditioning and nice...

We stayed in a private double room for 5 nights. Pros: Large, clean room TV, air con and wifi all worked well Really good location - 1 minute walk from East Nanjing Rd & Metro stop, quite a few shops/supermarkets nearby (with 5RMB bottles of Tsingtao, everyone loves a cheap beer!), easy to find with directions given by hostel Staff...

Nothing flash but comfortable and very good location for checking out the sites. Room was bigger and better than expected (own dorm), staff were great and the bar / food well priced. Let's be honest, you're not staying there for the amenities, you're there to see the surrounds, so if you just need a bed and a little comfort, I'd...

Location was amazing for me, right of the main drag and took no time to get anywhere but really - this place smelt funky. Ground floor always had a wiff of animal facies, and the room had a scent too it ... Wifi is horrendous, just give up now. Bed was OK and staff rather unfriendly but the shower was...

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
