so as i cant buy a ticket to beijing at that time , i looked for a good hostel near Hongqiao Airport and luckily found this hostel. The location of this hotel can be a pro and a con at the same time... its a bit remote and hard to find but on the plus side its very quiet,,, The...

We stayed here twice during our travels in China, first time in a double bed private with en-suite, the next time in a basic double bed with en-suite. The Basic was exactly that - very basic, very very small and no window. However the 'normal' double bed private was amazing - huge room, huge bathroom and big window. The beds...

My wife and have stayed here multiple times...each visit has been great! The staff is extremely helpful and will write what ever is required in Chinese to enable buying tickets, etc. The atmosphere is friendly and just "down to earth"...location isn't bad as it's close to the the Metro stop. Buy food at the hostel or just walk around the...

The Rock and Wood is a hostel that proves to the hilt that beauty really is only skin deep. Having surveyed the pictures and reviews here I trusted that it was good to go. In terms of appearance it is indeed a winner, BUT who works there and what is their temperament? This is probably the next level of development...

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting Shanghai. It was close to metro station so although not in city centre it had very good links to the city scene. Check in was smooth and the rooms were very comfortable and nicely decorated. Common areas were very good at this hotel, good for relaxing in the evening, with good food...

Not far from an underground station, the private couples rooms with balcony are great and nice. Hotel is clean. Staff speaks good english and is very helpful. You can eat western food and breakfast at good prices, and have beers at night. Great place to meet other travellers. Stayed there for 3 nights on July 2014. Lots of local food...

This is the best hostel that I've stayed at in China. They have numerous options for types of rooms and we stayed in a private room without a courtyard view. It was comfortable, modern, and the front desk had hairdryers available for loan. I would definitely pay a little more to upgrade to one of their courtyard rooms. The front...

The rooms are clean and modern (I stayed in a 6 bed female dorm). Bathrooms and showers were tended to and great by hostel standards! The menu in the restaurant could be improved, but the food was OK. Everyone was on their phone/tablet/laptop while I was there so not much socialization in the common area, but that speaks to the...

The best part of this hostel is common area where you can eat&drink and meet people to share the information from other travellers! Food was okay and beer is cheap. I stayed at the single room and it was quite spacious and clean. Subway is in walking distance but it is not that close depending on your definition. If you...

Staying in Zhongshan Park

Neighbourhood Profile
Zhongshan Park
The residential and commercial areas around the beautiful grounds of Zhongshan Park have never been considered particularly fashionable by a majority of Shanghai’s foreign residents, but plenty of expats do choose to live here. The park itself is a huge draw, providing a pocket of serenity in the middle of the metropolis. The area has its share of trendy shops with wares that can’t be found elsewhere, delicious restaurants with food ranging from fancy to affordable, and great hidden bars. Rents are also cheaper here than in other neighborhoods with the same conveniences. Aside from the obvious attractions, with its neighborhood fix-anything shops and pop-up street stalls that sell anything you need, you’ll never sacrifice Western comforts.
