I visit China often, and the Marriott City Center is a home away from home. Rooms are extremely well appointed and the service of all of the staff is outstanding. No matter what you ask for, they try and deliver. Breakfast is good on the third floor, lobby bar is nice after a warm day of sightseeing and the food...

Dear Vaani M, Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to post a review. We have noted your comments regarding vegetarian food options and actually made several changes in this area since your last visit especially on the buffets and a-la-carte options including the room service menu. Nice hotel, good location, walking distance to the People Square but a little pricey compare to other hotel. Restaurant choices within the hotel are very limited and expensive (too expensive). Room is good, bed is comfy and overall very clean.

Dear Docvo99, Thank you for staying with us and for leaving a comment on TripAdvisor. Our hotel has multiple dining options including Cantonese, Japanese and an all-day-dining restaurant with buffet and a-la-carte menus. In addition, our Chef Davide also owns an Italian Trattoria on the 3rd floor and there is the Lobby Lounge. We try to cater to a wide...

Nice newer rooms but a bit small compared to many other hotels in China. More like the size of a standard room in Manhattan. Service is good but this is a very busy hotel with tourists, business people and lots of airline crews. They could use a bit more staff to handle the needs of guests a little better. Excellent...

If you get the chance, always book at Marriott's and pay a little extra for Executive Lounge privileges. They really serve the guest and meet any need you might have. In my case, Melinda at Shanghai City Centre went above and beyond. She checked me in seamlessly (less than 2 minutes) after a 20+ hour day of travel. She diagnosed...

The best italian menu in Shanghai... The price is a very special offer for a wonderful menu of the most popular italian dishes. I have tried "Parma ham and gnocco fritto" and the "lasagna" cooked truly by an italian chef. I'll return to test other dishes and because it's rare to taste original italian cuisine here in Shanghai... Fantastic italian...

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
