The location is really good if you have only few nights in Shanghai and want to explore the city by foot. If not the subway is just near by. The room was ok, nothing to complaint about. Of course it is quite loud if you decide to stay central. But if you close the window it works quite well. The...

The Hao Du is a very basic hotel but there is free wifi and I found that a couple of people on reception spoke reasonable English. I paid less than £60 for three nights including breakfast for a single room with window. The room was very small and the bathroom tiny and basic. My friends (a couple) had a far...

Stay for 1 night in September 2013. I booked through Ctrip for 130RMB for a single room without window (cheapest room the hotel offers). At check in, a walk in customer got the same room type as me for only 128RMB. And this breaks down to 100RMB for the room and 28RMB for a hotel membership. He was told that...

Very good hotel, rooms are smal but very clean! Not expensiv and on very good position. Bathrooms are like on ships. That is not so good for tall people. It is very small. Kichen of hotel is not so good. If you can, skip it. They have free wi-fi!!!

Centrally located, this hotel is a very convenient accommodation in Shanghai. It is very close to People’s Square. Only five minutes walking distance to metro station and if you really like to walk, it takes about 40–50 minutes to reach the famous The Bund. We stayed in the standard double room. Room size is efficient, not too big but clean...

I stayed in both the standard double room and the single room. Both are very small and I found the single room to be better valued than the standard twin-sharing room. The shower-room in the single is a work of art in space management. I was there during the Shanghai Expo and as such, the price was on the high...

I am sure if there is one thing I will be remembered for is my recommendation of this hotel for budget-conscious single travellers in Shanghai. Location is perfect and if you buy their VIP card (for 30RMB or less than U$5) a single room with no windows cost all of 100RMB (or U$15) a night. Hotel is very close to...

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
