Every time I visit Shanghai, my choice is the Puli. It's the best place to relax and refresh. During my stay, it was stunning and unforgettable experience to me, my mom and my little daughter. They prepared a little bear, bath tub, bathrobe and complimentary toiletires for my little girl. I'm very impressed by their careful concern for her. I've... More

When I travel long distances, I often get too little sleep on the plane and feel a little out of it by the time I check in to a hotel. From the moment I arrived at the PuLi, finding professional, helpful staff members waiting to guide me to the front desk, I felt relaxed and pampered. (Note: I don't want... More

From the view from my room, to the service staff, to the size and comfort of the room, to the amenities at the hotel. The Puli was in the best hotels I have ever stayed in (and I have stayed in a lot of hotels around the world). The Concierge went out of his way to get me to a... More

We knew in advanced we have a few days stay in Shanghai on the way to a conference in a nearby city. This hotel has a great 'early-bird' reservations deals with huge discounts, so we took it (wouldn't have stayed there otherwise). The hotel was far beyond expectations, staff was extremely nice and friendly (and well English speaking), and even... More

The Chinese travel industry is even more prone to hyperbole than US real estate agents. And "star-inflation" is getting out of control, with every hotel on the Bund claiming "6-star" status, and some of the new ones in Pudong claiming 7-star status. Officially, the China National Tourism Administration issues a maximum 5-star rating. But the quality of 5 star hotels... More

Dear Guest, Many thanks for posting such a detailed analysis on the very definition of a 41/2 star hotel! Very nice hotel. Everyone from front desk staff to bartenders are very friendly. Although a smaller hotel compared to other chain names, but intimate and rooms are well equipped with everything you need. I used to stay along the Bund alot but find this location to be much more convenient. You have everything nearby and some of the restaurants in... More

An impressive design and architecture. Frequented by and popular with western guests. Expensive, but gives one the feeling of plenty. Rooms are well equipped and modern. Sleep quality is fine. Room fridge supplies are free of charge. A good idea. The BUT is: this is not quite the luxury of the likes of the Langham nor The Banyan Tree on... More

Stayed for almost 2 weeks in October. This was my second stay and will always be my hotel of choice when in Shanghai. Unlike the other luxury hotels in Shanghai, Puli is small, intimate and elegant. One of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed. Visually stunning from the moment you walk in, it continues throughout the hotel, and of course ending at your room. The service was fantastic day in out and the convenience to the subway was great. Definitely looking forward to staying there again in the future.

Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.

The PuLi, with 26 floors, 193 rooms and 36 suites will offer 24-hour in-room dining as well as 24-hour concierge, laundry and valet services. The hotel's signature 120-seat restaurant located on level 2, also boasts impressive views across the park. A 32-metre Long Bar will offer one of Shanghai's "longest" wine and champagne selections by the glass. The bar and lounge will create a chameleon-like atmosphere as the space transforms in character and mood through the day.
